States keep up with lawsuits against China for 'malicious' role in COVID-19 pandemic

More than a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, two Republican states are keeping up their efforts to hold China accountable for the spread of the virus that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans and sparked an economic downturn from which the U.S. has still not recovered.

Mississippi and Missouri both sued China in federal court in the initial days of the pandemic last year, joining several class-action lawsuits against Beijing -- at a time when the Trump administration was blaming China as a key actor in the pandemic.

The virus is believed to have originated in Wuhan, and the secretive communist government was accused of downplaying the virus and misleading the world in the early days of the pandemic -- leaving other countries, including the U.S., exposed and without time to prepare.

Legal experts have warned that the cases face long odds because foreign governments are generally granted immunity from domestic suits. But that doesn’t mean the Republican states plan on giving up holding the Chinese behemoth accountable.

Its good that red states at least are trying to hold China accountable. The China virus started in Wuhan and the evil empire regime covered it up. As far as we know it may well have originated in a virology lab in Wuhan. I wish the states and our people luck in their endeavor against the enemy chicom regime.

 

We also know that the brutal genocidal regime resorted to martial law to compel obedience and disappeared scientists and journalists getting to the bottom of what happened. They also closed of citizens of Wuhan and its surrounding province from the rest of China with total travel restrictions while encouraging Wuhan residents to travel internationally particularly to Europe after our travel ban. They spread it to Milan and Barcelona and Europeans caught it and brought it to NY before the Europe travel ban was put in place, Deliberate acts by China.

 

Mississippi typically ranks near the bottom in healthcare and education so maybe they should focus on that and not frivolous lawsuits — then again these lawsuits are likely from the people that are a product of that education system so...

I don’t know what Missouri’s excuse is.

Lawmakers should be responsible for taxpayer dollars that they blow to pander to their base.

 

Obama sent more money to the Wuhan lab than how much we spent on suing them. And then there is the money wasted on 2 impeachments. China needs to own up to intentionally spreading their virus around the world while trying to limit their exposure to just Wuhan where they welded people into their homes.

 

Why would anyone start a lawsuit they know they can't win?

Yes, and we need to be continuing to support the Wuhan lab, along with other nations - both financially and within the community of scientists.

That lab contains the world expertise on the COVID family of viruses of which tens of thousands of strains are to be found in the regional animal populaiont - bats, pangolins, and others.

The very idea that we can be better defended by LEAVING the world scientific community on health issues could not be more ignorant and self destructive.

Maybe, on the infinitesimal chance this doesn't work, Mississippi can sue the estate of the late Carmen Miranda for Hurricane Carmen that waxed them in 1969?
