I make and use regular bullwhips. I dont know where I got the idea but I did. Went to 5 hardware stores and ranch supply stores today to track down 6 one ft sections of succesively smaller chain. I cut and welded the first section, all others I simply cut and hammered on my anvil. Today I will add two things, a 16 inch handle, maybe somewhat larger than 1/2 inch, thick walled plumbing pipe. Upon this I shall weld the thong of the whip. To the end of the handle, I shall weld a 1 and a half inch, steel ball. She's a different animal than a rope or leather whip. Follow thru is key, gotta respect her.

    Here is one in action.

Here is what I have, thus far... DSCN0317.JPG

Finished. The weld on the steel ball came out perfect. The business end is paracord with the traditional mason's twine cracker. The cracker wears out and is designed to be replaced. Anyone want to place an order? lol. DSCN0318.JPG

All lengths of chain all welded but the last ft.

After some vigorous cracking, the bent lengths came apart. I will weld those too and use a dremel to smooth those out.

    Don't hurt yourself.

You may want to wear some high-impact protective eye goggles, thick padded clothes, protective gloves and a hard hat when wielding that.

Maybe so but practice makes perfect. I keep this on my trike for Mrs FatBack and I for loose and agressive dogs. I got the dings being silly with it.

That's pretty wild. How much does it weigh?

I'd guess at least two pounds, I was going to load the steel handle with lead before completing the welds but I'm glad I did not. It's thick walled plumbing pipe.

Dang!! That's one you don't want to mess up. You hit yourself with that and you're in serious trouble. Does it work for weed trimming?

Oh yeah, great for that and limbs. I got my shin a decent wack this morning. It was an overhead crack and my timing was off lifting my right leg as it came down, the crack already happened and it was on the follow thru but it did smart!

I think it's great that you made such a formidable weapon that gives an adversary equal opportunity to come out the winner without even doing anything. Very fair and just of you.

I can take out 5 men in 5 seconds but the only problem is, they all have the same name as me! If you respect it, it's fairly controllable but needles to say, you may want a fair amount of practice with a traditional whip first. There are similarities but there are certainly differences too.

And that's why I'd choose something more like a jump rope for that. :)

Also a flexible mace and a potential strangulation tool. Anything can be used as a weapon. Even a house key or an ink pen, or a fan cord.

I have learned something I will have to video, 3 cracks in rapid sucession. I recently re plaited the front of the whip, cracks easier and harder and more durable.
