It certainly runs counter to MLK's ideals. You're choosing people because of the color of their skin. In more rational times, that was considered blatant racism by pretty much everyone.

Isn't the point that Republicans have only picked 1 minority to even be considered.

Why should their physical characteristics be any point at all? It can't be that hard to choose someone who is qualified by experience, knowledge and understanding of the Constitution regardless of their physical traits.

I'm not in the Republicans heads, but Biden sure has made it clear, just as he did with his VP, that PHYSICAL is of primary consideration. That is not only WRONG, but pretty much illegal by most laws.

The African-American female SC picks were not chosen for their "physical characteristics". They were chosen because of the unique life experiences they can bring to the court.
I don't agree with discrimination. That's why I am happy to see women and POC finally receive opportunities that have been closed to them for so long.
Out of 114 SC justices, 5 have been women and 2 have been African-American men. All the rest have been White males.
That looks like discrimination to me.

How far back into "history" do we have to go...? Black slavery ended in Great Britain in 1833; Black slavery ended in France in 1848; and, Black slavery ended in the United States in 1865. What's all the continued, endless BITCHING about?! Should I have the right to bitch endlessly and demand 'reparations' from the Italian government because the Roman Empire took my German ancestors as slaves 'once-upon-a-time'...?! The Italians are welcome to write me a check, if they are really that STOOPID....

And, as has been pointed out very clearly in this Forum literally dozens of times, full equality of ALL American citizens was 'cast-in-concrete' with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Thus, ALL American citizens are fully EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW. So, again, what's all this continued, endless BITCHING about, more than FIFTY-SIX YEARS LATER?!

    T**** picked a handmaid...

What is the representative percentage of the Black population? Of that number, how many are qualified for the position? How many ended up in that position?

Everybody has a unique life experience. Yours is different then mine, and different from the person on your left or right. Positions should not be based on anything other than qualifications*. 'Battles' have been fought on the subject, laws enacted to prevent repeats of history. Yet some feel there is some sort of pound of flesh due from people who have had nothing to do with past issues.

I don't care about a person's physical characteristics, but when people try to use them as a 'I deserve' based on them, it is 100% wrong. Be they Black, White, Red, Yellow or Green.

Kavenaugh was a rapist--- Unfit to be on the SC. He had the Senate on his side though; that's how he got the job.

Don't rule out Kamala-la-la for Breyer's seat on the SCOTUS. Think about it! It solves several different problems the Democrats have, and it fulfills Geriatric Joe's commitment to consider only "Black and Female" citizens -- exclusively!

Well, hell... she's been masquerading as someone who's "Black" all this time and nobody's really called her out on it, so, she qualifies -- and -- it gets the most-despised, most-derided high profile Democrat out of the 'line-of-fire' and puts her in a spot where she can continue to push the America-hating, 'diversity'-advocacy Democrat Party line....

    No, he wasn't.

Ford pointed to witnesses who she claims were there: They claim she's full of **** and none of them corroborated her story.

    Have some ****ing discernment ffs.

I hear the representative African-American population is 13%. (I believe it is more than that, but that's for another thread). So, why haven't we had 13% of our SC justices be African-American?

OK. Yeah, they must be because about 94% of our SC justices have been White. So quotas must be illegal. :roflol:

According to the evidence he was not a rapist, as Ford said people witnessed the alleged incident and those witnesses said no in fact that's not what they saw. He seems to have drank about as much as any other American college student. Perhaps a bit less if he stuck to beer.

If I was President, I'd announce that I'm going to nominate a White Conservative Man to the Supreme Court. Liberals on here and across the United States would be seeing Red and Screaming racism to all ends, even though it's no different then Sleepy Joe using RACE! to garner votes with him promoting Skin Privilege and announcing he's only going to nominate a BLACK! Woman to the Supreme Court. I wish people would concentrate more on the Brain and Character of a person rather than solely the shade of their Skin. Also their History should come into play and the statements they've made in the past.

Actually, the Black percentage of American citizens is believed to be ~14%. But, if we must adhere to the peculiar idea that participation in anything in the United States must (MUST) be based in a person's race and gender -- instead of qualification -- then what Biden proposes will put Black 'representation' on the SCOTUS at 22.2222%.... Isn't THAT 'unfair'...? :cynic: -- "Quick! Call the Diversity-Gestapo!"

Maybe not... look at nearly EVERYTHING on network television today, including commercials. The number of Black faces you see sure seem to be a hell of a lot more than any 14%....

Only 7 percent of the population is black females though. 14 percent all blacks. If anything people of color are over represented in Politics, media, pop culture etc.

Don't forget, though, that if Biden sticks a Black female on the SCOTUS, that will make a total of TWO Blacks -- one male, and, one female. That makes for a total of 22.222% of the Supreme Court being Black!

I would be more than happy with Oprah... or ANY nominee who is not an attorney. Alas! Doesn't look like I'll be getting my wish.

I hope he picks somebody who can get votes from both parties in the Senate.

POC will never replace the white population. If anything reduction in white population will end the country as we know it same as it did to the romans. America will probably break up in 50 years or so into separate nations. Basically what made America work to begin with was Western European culture predominately Northern European culture. As the social norms of that continue to be degraded so do the glue the held America together. Essentially our country will take a step back into the second world probably. More likely into 4-6 different nations with various degrees of Prosperity.

One can say that GOP appointments are also over represented now in SCOTUS give political party doctrine in the US. Biden gets to select the next justice regardless and he will fulfil a campaign promise.
