One thing for sure, the vast majority of the Confederate soldiers didn't own slaves or were fighting to preserve slavery in the south and the vast majority of the federal union soldiers weren't fighting to end slavery.

I read the article in full, never once did it give the full context of what King said. The onus isn't on me since I wasn't the one asking the question of "why do blacks think the GOP is racist". I responded with a pretty good reason and you all seem to back it up since none of you guys will provide the full context. Most people wont bother looking past the headline of an article, much less a few paragraphs. And even far less will see that King's full quote is no where to be found and wont go looking for what he actually said in context to the original interview.

How do we get to the point where society values a black life to the same extent as a white life? Thats the question. Because without doubt, that is not the case today.
