After all, those of us who actually know history know that JFK (and the rest of the Kennedy clan - including Joseph) and Senator McCarthy were close and lifelong friends. They frequently vacationed together, and Joe had even dated not only Pat but Eunice Kennedy. He was also Godfather to Robert Kennedy's daughter.

And Senator Joe had 2 very devout Junior Senators working closely alongside him during his hearings. Both of them stalwart anti-Communists and fanatical in their support of him, and this crusade.

Richard Nixon, and John Kennedy. The three were known to publicly support each other for years in political manners, even going against party lines to support each other instead of their opponents.

And to this day, I wonder how much of what Senator Joe knew that was highly classified at the time and he should not have had access to. Especially Venona, which has proven that indeed not only were many of those called out actual agents, but even Soviet archives since then have proven them to be true.

Whenever somebody confuses McCarthy and the HUAC, I know I am talking with somebody that does not really understand what was going on. They are only believing propaganda, and not even trying to engage their brains to realize they were 2 very different things. And ignoring that by far the worst "Red Baiting" hearings were conducted by the Democrats. That is just ignorance. At least the Senator only went after Government employees, not non-governmental citizens.

The entire Russiagate drama is establishment war propaganda. Designed to whitewash the Democrats failure as a party and to justify the US-NATO military buildup at Russia's doorstep.

Coming from somebody who can not even realize that the vast majority of "McCarthyism" was conducted by the Democrats in a completely different branch of Congress, I consider this a joke statement.

Still waiting for an explanation on how President Truman and the McCormak-Dickstein (both D) Committee along with the others (Dies Committee, Hart Committee and others - all Democrats in the House of Representatives) are part of some Right-Wing Republican activity.

 

Coming from a person who clearly does not understand what McCarthyism was and how it played out results in me not being interested in his mistaken interpretations.
