BREAKING: Trump Asserts Executive Privilege On Census Docs Sought By House Dems https://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/census-trump-executive-privilege-oversight President Trump asserted executive privilege over key documents related to the administration’s effort to add a citizenship question to the census, the Department of Justice said Wednesday morning. The documents had been subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee in April. The announcement of the invocation of executive privilege came just as the committee was beginning a meeting to vote on recommending that Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross be held in contempt for defying the subpoena.
Why Wilbur Ross's Census Lies Matter The commerce secretary's phony rationale for adding a citizenship question is inconsistent with the rule of law. https://reason.com/2019/01/23/why-wilbur-rosss-census-lies-matter/
What truths did he fail to protect? Hasn't anyone explained to you that the talking points that cause you to hate Barr developed from anger over the results of Mueller mess. You should be hating him for failing to do his job. But you spent 2 years loving him. Keep it up and you will begin getting angry because daytime follows dawn.
The truth about what the Mueller report says. I think a more accurate way to describe Barr's tenure so far is he is protecting the facts from the public's (and Congress') view. As in refusing to comply with legal subpoenas.
You can read the report for yourself. If you don't believe it then Barr may explain it to you if you ask. The subpoenas are ridiculous and have nothing to do with anything other political theater. He shouldn't help the children in congress with their Trump bashing. Also I should mention that he hasn't received a subpoena about the Mueller mess as far as I know. He hasn't agreed to show up for a Subpoena about the census but that is a political matter, not a legal one. It has nothing to do with his job or expertise. It is harrassment.
Nadler's furious because AG Barr won't facilitate his over-reach. Nadler knows he has to get the grand jury transcripts from the federal court. Jerry wants the DOJ to plead the case to a federal judge, and claim the request is part of a legitimate oversight proceeding. It isn't, and Nadler's stupid colleague Adam Schiff has admitted that it isn't legitimate. The truth, and you know it to be the truth, is that the more "underlying material" you examine, the less credible the report becomes. Meadows, Gaetz, and Nunes can't wait to get their hands on Bob Mueller. Nobody doesn't understand why Nadler will pursue every alternative to a Mueller subpoena until the bitter end. You can't cherry pick, or spin public testimony.
You must admit, watching all this insanity from the left is the best entertainment the conservatives have had in years. Yesterday it was billionaire Robert Francis bouncing around like a fart in a hot tin skillet, arms swinging around wildly to a "crowd" of a dozen people in a restaurant or Fauxahontas screeching in a school gym, the rich should pay more ignoring the fact she cannot define rich but you can bet it will be a few dollars less than what resides in her fat bank account. Then there was ole' Bernie Freeshit Sanders, hair all aflutter finger pointing and promising free healthcare and college for everyone from a podium somewhere. Lest we not exclude Creepy uncle Joe who if elected, promises to cure cancer. And they call Trump crazy.
I have........or at least a substantial part of it. It's how I know Barr and the truth only have a passing relationship. You are welcome to hold any opinion of the motivation for the subpoenas you desire. It doesn't change the fact Barr is in violation of the law in refusing to comply with them.
Your attempt to dismiss the vital, constitutional, oversight role of the Congress with semantics is duly noted.
Now I understand why Democrats would like to get rid of Barr. Bill Barr’s Department of Justice just completed a 2 month sting resulting in the arrests of over 1,700 online child sex predators AG Barr made this a top priority from day one in his position.
That's true. His appropriate response would have been to get the subpoenas quashed by a judge. Obviously he was making a statement to Congress.
No doubt more stonewalling to come. House Intel Committee Subpoenas Rick Gates, Michael Flynn https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/house-intelligence-schiff-subpoena-rick-gates-michael-flynn
No president has ever released the information that congress is demanding of Trump, voluntarily or otherwise. Congress has no right or authority to subpoena the information that they are doing. Though it is likely a number of federal district judges, who couldn't care less about the law, will rule otherwise, or some, like in the case of Wells Fargo, will go ahead and honor the illegal subpoena. You evidentially think the president has no business carrying on private conversations, but that is idiotic. You probably are not aware that the president can issue security clearances to anyone he damn well pleases. Why would any person in their right mind give any information, like tax returns, to people whose sole purpose is to destroy the person in any way they can? The whole world knows about Stormy's perfectly legal non-disclosure agreement and payments. Few know of the hundreds of thousands of dollars Stormy was court ordered to pay Trump, though. You seem to be under the totally wrong impression that government officials cannot use their personal email accounts. At least Trump did not buy Saudi Arabia's favor by delivering over $1 billion in cash in an unmarked plane flying under the cover of darkness. Was the so-called destruction of documents done after or before he gave hundreds of thousands to Mueller?
