I first heard of it when Madonna went on about curing sea nettle stings by peeing on her. feet. Very strange

I don’t think there is any room to criticize based on political affiliation. Different parties just believe different crazy things. Both sides will believe ANYTHING as long as it comes from an authority they appeal to.

 

A truth that has been demonstrated countless times during the pandemic. It always puzzles me how people can speak authoritatively on a subject they have no real knowledge of.

My opinion is speaking forcefully about a subject you aren’t sure about or you suspect you may be misled about is an attempt to avoid having to face reality. It’s easier to shout preconceived opinions that fit your desires than to actually examine reality.

This is a very unfair statement because that's not how thing happen in "real life". A person wouldn't know that was garbage if they don't have any prior experiences or involvement in any function that requires that knowledge. So, it's not that they aren't thinking. It's that they don't know what to think so it feels *safer* when a person in authority says something.

I have absolutely NO understanding of why anybody would trust Fauci or Trump. They both are pathological liars and one of them has a god-complex who thinks he's a stable genius and the other is very smart and a (wolf) politically savvy in sheep's clothing. So, using either of them as a point of reference, from the start, isn't the "best" they can do in an effort to understand and make the choices they deem most appropriate for themselves and/or their children and/of elderly parents relative to COVID mitigation.

This applies to every single exhausting, finger-pointing, rage-filled meltdown they get worked up about. But, here's the thing. Some people just like to b!tch about stuff. And, if there isn't anything outrageously crazy the have to make stuff up in their head to fight about.

And, while I "get" that some people are that way, I don't understand why they don't understand that we live communities because we rely on one another so a better approach is making every effort to cultivate those relationships outside superficial and mostly inconsequential blame game based on the letter(s) behind somebody's name.

This is not accurate. People aren't waking up saying "let me do something crazy today." Maybe some do but I would say they are NOT a significant enough percentage to worry about. This means that everybody else IS doing what they think is best for themselves and their families.

I'm making this distinction because when we use words like "crazy" and other negative adjectives to describe whomever we are essentially saying "You're too stupid to get it." and that's never been a strong conversation starter. And, it also speaks toward the person versus the concept.

I agree. One of the most shocking part for me throughout the pandemic has been the number of people that have thrown up their hands and just want to blindly do whatever somebody says is the "right" thing without actually understanding that position or even question its truthfulness.

Also, agree. Some people don't want to process anything that contradictions their world view. I stopped speaking to a poster because he is KNOWINGLY post false information. It's constant and counterproductive and he doesn't care because the people that think that way pat each other on the back so feel validates even if the foundation of that is false. So, I just accept that some people here just to stir the pot.

Those same people told us not to wear N95 masks before they mandated that we should wear masks and then to wear 3 masks and then didn't wear masks themselves. The same people that made it legally required that we wear masks have not made it illegal to wear single layer masks, which is worse than wearing no masks.
I can't figure out why people would be wary of believing such a person.
