Strange that it's mostly Democrats who want to continue the lockdown destroying our economy...

For the last 5 years, Democrats have been trying to destroy Trump by any and all means.

Irrationally blaming him for the ChiFlu has now presented them with the strongest possibility of doing so.

Of course there's a minor side effect in this case - that of the economy being wrecked.

Is it a strange coincidence that it's mostly Democrats who wish the lockdown to continue despite the utter devastation it's causing?

Or do Democrats just care more about human life & dignity?

If Democrats care more about human life, why did they support monstrous war criminals Obama and Hillary, and why are they gushing over master of war Bush II now?

And if Democrats care more about human dignity, why are they about to nominate a rapist?

is ChiFlu the weapon Democrats have been seeking to destroy Trump at all costs?

Or are they just better people than non-Democrats?

 

Actually, it's more simple than that, at least in my opinion. I think ultimately, Democrats don't believe there is such thing as an "economy," or at least not anything that has to do with normal everyday life. They seem to associate it with Wall Street and Banks (boo!). They support the lockdown because they don't believe there are any bad effects from being locked down other than mild inconvenience. They seem to believe that we can all sit at home for the next 18 months or however long it takes to come up with a vaccine and just collect checks from the government.

It seems to be associated with their almost religious belief in UBI. They think ultimately, nobody has to work or produce anything, and as long as people are getting paid by the government everything is fine.

 

I'm going to answer that with the same excuse I've used before.

If Trump wants to open things up then Democrats want them shut down, because they think he's stupid and any ideas that he has must be stupid therefore doing the opposite must be smart.

If he was pushing hard to extend the shutdowns 60 more days the Democrats would be pushing hard to open up in 15.

 

Your statement assumes that an unchecked pandemic would not also be very harmful to the economy, which is silly. We should have done mass testing and case isolation from the beginning, like the other countries who did this better than us did. Instead, there was no substantial coordination from a federal level early on; in fact, the President was downplaying the seriousness of the disease.

 

Hey - if the goobermint wants to send everybody a check every month, I guess we're good-ish for the time being.

Do Democrats not pay rent or mortgage?

Free utilities?

Are they all super-wealthy or on food stamps?

What part of months without a paycheck being a problem are they not grasping?

Are they completely out of touch with basic reality?

Well I've observed that most of the advocates of continued lock down are all employed and drawing checks. On this forum they all seem to be retired so their checks are continuing regardless.

I've an acquaintance who's a Bernie Bro and he was laid off pretty early in this lockdown. He's gotten more radical since then. Rather than go back to work, he wants property confiscated from landlords and UBI.
