There is no reason to raise federal taxes as localities will pay for preparations and repairs/Upgrades as needed as they have been. Federal response should be limited to FEMA and international agreements when required. It is simply not possible to mount an effective or competent federal plan to combat climate change and it would be pointless anyway as any response must be global in scale. Charging non coastal states for coastal defenses would be unfair and inappropriate.

Let’s get real. Few State govs. and Municipalities can afford reasonable efforts without federal grand monies for capital expenses. Grant money for police cruisers, municipality fire engines and other emergency vehicles are available to poorer communities which is the norm in most red states. They live off the feds. . The entire army/air national guard emergency response effort and coast guard is co funded by the feds. None of that exists for emergencies without federal funds. You guys live in a Faux bubble. If these funds were all shut off, your local property, sales, state income taxes would jump dramatically. It does every time there is a cut in federal taxation. Local taxes go up in poorer states.
