We've probably gone too far down the road to turn back now. But if your state is entertaining legalizing marijuana, please be aware of the facts. Medicinal value can be dosed in a pill - there is no need for pot shops. If pot shops are allowed to exist, their products must be made unattractive to kids.
I'M not saying anything... just passing along the news. So many people think it's just a harmless high. The evidence is mounting that it is harmful for anyone under the age of 25. Possibly permanent damage to the brain.
so does alcohol, why would a child be doing either, anything in access can cause problems, even Advil in children
no one said it was not for children, seizures are dangerous too, all drugs can have side effects, you weigh the risks no mater the drug
I've heard that chronic alcohol use by teens can lead to problems, too. Is there a justification for more restrictive laws on pot than there are on alcohol?
Yes, let's be aware of the facts. This is from your link...(my emphases) In the above article, "the study" is an embedded link to a summary of the actual study ... (summary) http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/v19/n5/full/mp201414a.html Notice that Sharpie omitted the very important fact that the study was done using rats. The summary gives no indication of how much THC was administered and at what intervals. In any case, similar arguments can be made for alcohol. Does anyone care to make alcohol illegal again?
(my emphasis) That is not evident from the study you linked. You obviously didn't take the time, or make the effort to read the summary of the study you linked. It's just so much easier to find a Google headline that sounds like it supports your views, and do a little copy and pasting. From the study summary... http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/v19/n5/full/mp201414a.html
Don't smoke pot - ya liable to end up homeless... Colorado Police Chief Links Pot, Homeless March 15, 2018 - Pueblo Police Chief Troy Davenport said Wednesday that his officers are being told by homeless people regularly that they have come to Colorado for marijuana and some specifically to Pueblo because of the climate.
It was medicinal in a myriad of societies for over 3000 years before we banned it for highly racialized reasons. Big pharma would like this to remain "illegal" for obvious reasons.
Correlation does not prove causation. In fact, the police point to a different relationship in the data. It's interesting to see police collect data, though. It would be good to see data on gun discharges by police - a hole in US gun data. There would probably be fewer - so it would be easier to collect and report!
I'm a Chronic Pain Patient under medical care of a excellent clinic and if my doctor suggested I apply for a medical marijuana card which in Florida is an option and he is an authorizing doctor its not a big list, I would consider it for pain care, but that is different than taking pot for recreation and I would hesitate since I hate taking narcotics even if it might be needed. But I accept some narcotic medication as essential currently to supplement my Lyrica I take 600mg of Oxycodone a month and a small 200mg supply for elevated and longer term pain spikes as needed. I instead of 5mg for part of the day might need 10mg until the pain subsides. I would note though I'm a good and mature patient who informs my doctors of my needs and keep them informed and work with my pain specialist to get just enough pain support to do the job not less and not more. The way the narcotic medication should be taken.
It's Reefer Madness time! So there should be laws restricting marijuana sales to adults and those who require it for medicinal purposes. Why didn't anyone think of that? Oh wait ....
I am arguing to raise the legal adult age to 25. Then the argument is not what substance is legal, only how old one has to be to legally use. The former argument is one of opinion, the later is one of science.
