It's stuff like this that makes me worried that we really are on the edge of turning into Ray Bradbury's dystopian society from Fahrenheit 451. The Canadian government has now made it there job to wipe out "systemic racism" and "religious discrimination" and condemn "all forms of Islamophobia" which by the way, this bill does not define Islamophobia, so the leftist there can group any form of criticism of Islam in that category. This bill could lead to a very scary reality of censorship In Canada.

Its not my place to tell Canadians what to do, but if I were a Canadian I would be outraged by this anti free speech law.

Yes. All of those kooky books from middle school and high school (Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, 1984, Brave New World) are becoming too real.

After nuclear war, the next scariest thing on earth would be government controlling our thoughts and words.

    Here is the full motion..
    M-103
Systemic racism and religious discrimination Text of the Motion That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) recognize the need to quell the increasing public climate of hate and fear; (b) condemn Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination and take note of House of Commons’ petition e-411 and the issues raised by it; and (c) request that the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage undertake a study on how the government could (i) develop a whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia, in Canada, while ensuring a community-centered focus with a holistic response through evidence-based policy-making, (ii) collect data to contextualize hate crime reports and to conduct needs assessments for impacted communities, and that the Committee should present its findings and recommendations to the House no later than 240 calendar days from the adoption of this motion, provided that in its report, the Committee should make recommendations that the government may use to better reflect the enshrined rights and freedoms in the Constitution Acts, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Are you allowed to take cover in Canada if you hear someone shouting Allahu akbar in the airport or subway?

I see that DailyWire incorrectly called it a "bill or a law, out of confusion or deliberate attempts to spread misinformation". M-103 is a private member's motion, which is a "proposal moved by an MP to draw attention to an issue considered urgent or of public interest".

Speaking of Mecca do Canadian road signs and subway maps tell immigrants and tourists which direction Mecca lies in from where they're praying?

An argument in support of the motion is that it addresses a "pressing issue". It was reported that hate crimes against Muslims more than doubled in a two-year period.[14] Canadians indicated the urgency of addressing this issue by signing a petition (with 70,000 signatures) condemning Islamophobia.[13] Then in January 2017, 6 Muslims were killed in a shooting in a Quebec City mosque.

So, "thought" and "speech" are now criminalized in Canada. What a bunch of tyrannical morons.

The motion says "the government should:.....(b) condemn Islamophobia".

What is "islamophobia"? Its a made up word, its definition is flexible and is set by the accuser. The intent is to smear and silence anyone critical of islam.

M-103 is simple blatant speech control.

"Phobia" implies irrationality. There's nothing irrational about opposing Islam. It's a medieval and barbaric ideology, developed by a warlord who married a 6 year old.

Given that Trump has, without a doubt, resurrected much Islamophobia in this country (his supporters look foolish denying it), what Canada did should come off as quite heartening.

    quell
    kwel/
    verb
verb: quell; 3rd person present: quells; past tense: quelled; past participle: quelled; gerund or present participle: quelling
put an end to (a rebellion or other disorder), typically by the use of force
    .
"extra police were called to quell the disturbance"
    synonyms: put an end to, put a stop to, end, crush, put down, check, crack down on, curb, nip in the bud, squash, quash, subdue, suppress, overcome;
    informalsquelch
    "troops quelled the unrest"
    • subdue or silence someone.
"Connor quelled him with a look"
    • suppress (a feeling, especially an unpleasant one).
"he spoke up again to quell any panic among the assembled youngsters"

Sounds like some applied research to me.

No better way to end hate and fear than at the pointy end of a legal bayonet.

This is what the left wants. The American left would do the same in a minute if they could, but the right is stronger in the U.S. than it is in Canada.

This is a great idea, 'quell' perceived hate speech against people whose religion commands them to hate.

There are exceptions to every rule, but for the most part government has been controlling our perceptions, our thoughts and our words for about a century now. Woodrow Wilson hired Edward Bernays to properly manipulate "public relations" 100 years ago. Today, those efforts have resulted in propaganda as art form.

Canada is now 100% a terrorist safe haven. I think Trump should focus the wall on our northern end. Maybe some SAMs too

Great, now we'll have to "take the black" and stand on top of a freezing wall.

    Thanks Canada.
