Keenum has been awesome, but I still like the Patriots to win SB.

That said, if the Vikes get to SB they'd be the first team to ever play SB at their home field.

Gonna be interesting if Vikes win on Sunday.

Well, I was completely wrong! So, Eagles/Patriots. I'm not a fan of either team but I would like to see the Eagles win. I'm tired of the Patriots and Brady.

BeliCHEAT has the refs in his pocket - on that basis I predict a NE "win".

True unless Brady gets terribly sacked....gronk gets a broken ankle, then the Eagles may win!??

I'm very surprised the Vikings got destroyed. I think the eagles are overrated and inexperienced in the post season. I think it'll be close because of their defense for some of the game, but I have Pats 24-13

As coach Zimmer admitted, the problem was that the Vikes used precisely the same strategy in this game as they had all season. Eagles scouted out the strategy and had a defensive game plan to deal with it. Vikes failed to develop an alternate strategy at half time and were easily beaten.

I'm pulling for the Eagles. Nick Foles is a U.A. graduate. Tucson is definitely a college town.

Eagles defensive line are very physical. But Pats will use quick short passes to neutralize their speed/power and then use long outlets to score. The good thing about Belichek is the fact that he has multiple strategies in his book and can use them at any time. This will force Eagles to do the adjustments and should have them on their heels all game long.

    A good question.

Indeed, how the Pats use him will be vital for their chance at SB success - I expect him in the flank and would not be too surprised if he throws an option. But to me, even more important is how Belichek will use the under rated FB James Develin.

I'm an old school FB fan. If I was a coach, I would use old school strategy much like Belichek. Today, the FB is not used as much as in the past. But recall when the NY Giants won the SB, they relied heavily on Maurice Carthon and Ottis Anderson. Both of them were solid, hard core, old school fullbacks who did great blocking, had good outside speed, and did not run away from hard contact - in fact they often initiated it head on.

James Develin is one of the last of the old school FB who can do what the Carthons and Andersons did in the past. Because of that, and because of the multiplexes used by Belichek, I expect him to have the greatest impact on the Pats offensive strategy.

I wish I could like your post a million times. FBs are a key component of the success of many teams. One of my favorite athletes in the league is Anthony Sherman. Not because he's from my town, but because he's a versatile full back used in many situations.

Anthony Sherman - another old schooler although I would use him more on offense if I were the KC coach.

    And thanks for the compliment!

    Anytime.

He's a pass catcher like Devlin (probably more so) and used in the back field. Sherman has it all. I miss the good ol ground n pound style. But adaptations must be made to win I suppose.

While much of the sports media and many fans missed it, the role played by Henry Hynoski in the 2012 Super Bowl for the NY Giants was well appreciated by the Jints fans. He always did a great job of putting on some massive blocks which opened up the ground game for RBs Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jacobs, and Hakeem Hicks, he could be an offensive threat as well esp as receiver, just like Sherman.

For those coaching amateur football, they should seriously consider this role by the FB as it can add much to a team's successes.

Without Rhino the Giants would not have won the SB.

Develin is the same type of player, only better.

The problem today is that most football reporters do not understand the game the way we old schoolers did (especially here in the highly provincial Twin Cities). Sure, they can pile up statistics for you - indeed, anybody can since the internet has so many sites which contain every manner of statistic imaginable. But these reporters do not understand what we called the X's and O's of the game. They cannot provide you with a detailed analysis or breakdown of the game which reveals why or how a team won. Here in the Twinkies when the local reporters discussed that particular Super Bowl, they had all the stats behind the Jints victory. But nobody, not even one reporter, mentioned the outstanding (let me call it) ''behind the scenes" work of Hynoski. The work of a Rhino is something a great many football fans (and reporters) will readily overlook. But we old schoolers look for this type of work and it is this which makes the game much more fun for us.

Thus, if fans really want to see how the Pats succeed, look for Develin and how he is employed in the team's strategy.

Eagles 27 Pats 26 - Eagles defense will get to Brady, Foles will do just enough to get the team in position for a last second field goal!!

Comments like this are why Brady keeps winning :)

If you're saying the Eagles need to rely on their defense to setup foles...then allowing 26 points means their defense is constantly on the field and exhausted. If the score gets that high, Tom Brady wins the game, not Foles

Hynoski is a tough runner and blocker. Very respected player
