BS. He lost two heart breaking SBs to the Giants. THOSE were reality checks. This was just a shootout.
Yep, should have won the two against the Giants......and lost against the Seahawks and Falcons........but that's the way the ball bounces......
Yea, I'll give Eli the first giants win with the helmet catch and the last drive. But the Pats had it WON the second time. All they needed was that first down (4 yards) to run the clock out. Brady passed to a WIDE open Hernandez and he dropped it. Then the 3rd down play is something that even Brady's wife is still mad about. Welker was also WIDE open and he dropped the 3rd down ball, which stopped the clock, forcing the punt. The pats had that game and Welker/Hernandez blew it
Well, at least you mentioned somebody else other than Welker not making a catch in that game. I have never seen so much blame thrown at one player for not making a second down catch with four minutes left in a game (yes, it was 2nd down not third down.......Hernandez dropped the third down throw that was next). It was a terrible throw by Brady, forcing Welker to practically stop at full stride and do a 180......he likely would have dropped the ball on impact if he had managed to catch it. There was still a third down play and four minutes left in the game. Welker draws all the blame, but few realize he would have been SB MVP in 2007 if Asante Samuel didn't drop an easy ELI pick the play before 'helmet catch'. Wes had over 100 yards and 11 catches that then tied him for most in a SB.
Sorry mixed up my downs. I never watched a replay of those SBs because it's too painful. Wasn't it Welker on the Broncos (regular season) when the Pats/Broncos were tied, and it was in OT, and he dropped the punt resulting in the pats getting excellent field position and won the game?
Actually no......Tony Carter let the punt hit him in the foot and the Patriots recovered it........but I'm pretty sure Welker was the second gunman at the grassy knoll in Dallas back in 1963.......
