As Republicans further entrench themselves into being as undemocratic and unrepresentative as possible, Americans must ask themselves is this a party that no longer represents the people but rather ‘winning’ at all costs. Partisan gerrymandering while practiced by both parties overwhelmingly benefit republicans and with modern map generating algorithms the problem seems to be expanding rapidly.

Should democrats do the same? Maybe to a larger extent? Democrats have the numbers in states where they can gerrymander to completely remove Republican repression in its entirety.

Do republicans have any distain for what their party is becoming or is it supported?

It's pretty disgusting.... while I tend to agree that it's hard for the SCOTUS to do anything about Gerrymandering in this country, I agree with your post that people that support this 'winning at all cost' mentality have no legitimate place in this country.

I'd be embarrassed to be a member of such a party but apparently they don't, so there it stands...

I'm fighting the same fight with the Census question thread I started. How can you support a regime that would openly lie to the court and the country to get their desired policy implemented?? Roberts stopped that process for the time being, but like a good plague-carrying mosquito, they'll be back....

What the GOP has done in this area is because they have won lots of elections, Democrats have done and would do in the future the same thing. It's called Democracy.

Federal courts still have the power to strike down maps designed to dilute the voting power of racial minorities, or maps that violate the “one person, one vote” principle. Supreme Court precedent in both areas is well established, and Thursday’s decision did nothing to change it.

No one should be supporting gerrymandering, regardless of which party is in power.

So the issue is what algorithm should be used. Current changes follow certain rules. Do the democrat gerrymandered areas that select more black votes so blacks have representation be abolished too?

What was democratic about the 2016 Democrat primary when the super delegates had been awarded to Hillary before the first vote was cast?

Well you pretty much killed your own point :) Lets not forget the leftist Regime is actively involved in stacking and censoring internet information in their favor via search engine manipulation, so lets just call it even, K :)

The SC merged two cases for this decision, one was about gerrymandering by republican in the southeast, and the other about the democrat in the north east.
The OP is quite hypocratical in blaming only the republican for the gerrymandering.

So, when Republicans gerymander, it is evil. But when Democrats change their State laws to require Electoral votes to go to the winner of the National popular vote and completely ignore the voters of their own State, that is righteous?

Both parties manipulate the system with a "win at any cost" mentality.

    Be honest:
It doesn't bother you when Democrats engage in gerrymandering; you're only upset about this because Republicans are better at it.

Nothing — and many democrats didn’t vote because of it — care to stay on topic?

You realize that democrats will be able to do the same yes? Do you really think this tit for tat between the two parties is good for the country?

Or is it all, “my team is winning so f everyone else”.

Such a disgrace some of you are

yep, short term thinking by the right.... but the right knows they are losing support, they are just trying to hang on and willing to cheat... the ends justify the means to them

both sides did it, but to a much lessor degree, now it's just got to a crazy level, probably cause now they use computers to do it with precision

and after this, it will get even worse

Yes they always have too. The Constitution is quite clear, the state legislatures have plenary power over this and the Judicial branch has no authority to draw or issue rules for drawing such congressional districts.

the minority vote is starting to be very powerful and the right wants to stop it.... Roy Moore would of won had they blocked the black vote
