pretty much said it all, no one will trust trump. he can just make up deal as he see fit then shredded days later for whatever reason. art of not trustworthiness.

Couldn't agree with you more. My business contact in the auto industrial, industrial HVAC, and tooling are all stating that overseas businesses do not trust Trump and his administration to keep their word on any deal. The complications are increasing coats, on top of the tariffs, and the countries doing business here aren't paying it - the end user is. This is beyond ridiculous.

“First, the costs of US tariffs have fallen entirely on US businesses and households, with no clear reduction in the prices charged by Chinese exporters. Second, the effects of the tariffs have spilled over noticeably to the prices charged by US producers competing with tariff-affected goods.”

So America's word is only as good as its president. Interesting perspective from a patriot who thinks Trump's America is great.

Never mind, he has a big stick.

This administration is making so many enemies around the world with tariffs and irrational, insane threats of war, one wonders if the US will ever be able to recover any kind of reputation in the long term.

I am not a fan of Trump or tariffs, but I make an exception when it comes to China because of their thievery. I disagree with tariffs on Mexico, but if it leads to fewer illegal immigrants, I will change my position.

But you don't care that America's word is only as good as Trump's? Any price to achieve a single goal, I guess.

Mexico at this point just needs to take a number.

I believe the question is, will the benefits of the resources grab, breach of trust, sanctions, forced military & economic domination of America's will, make up over the long term for the damage it inflicts on US relations with the rest of the world. Can America ever regain it's position and at what cost.

The trade agreement does not mean Mexico is free to attack America in other ways. Tariffs are a long recognized tool of inducement and if Mexico wants to avoid them they know exactly what they need to do.

seriously? its not about politician lying about their tax return or had an affair. its about trust and credibility of US governments policy. why would any country trust ANY deal with current administration.

bs, immigration and trade are complete different things. why would any country trust US policy if they know trump can use any excuse to shred the deals.

The deal stands. These tariffs are based on an issue outside the deal. Quit facilitating illegal immigration into our country and tariffs will be what's in the deal.

The trade deal and punitive tariffs are entirely separate entities and as I suspected you couldn't give a quote of Trump saying it's null and void. The trade deal is still firmly in place.

No deal is permanent or irreversible. While I am not a fan of this deal with Mexico, I did grow up in a gang infested neighborhood and feel that my government cares more about illegal immigrants than me.

The problem with the border is not new and its not like they are doing anything about it. If this produces results, I support it. Sometimes problems are ignored to the point of a hammer being the only option.

Might has well if the tarrifs go thru. It'll never get ratified which would mean a huge trumpian failure. No worries tho, he's still got the other foot.
