What are the Turks going to do? Seems odd for them to be so invested in a rebel area of Syria in the first place, and now it looks like Assad's forces and possibly even Russian forces are going to be fighting to take an area where Turkey has armed forces. Will the Turks end up using their spanking new S-400s against Russian planes? :p

Syrian civil war: 'Three killed' in attack on Turkish convoy

A Syrian government air strike aiming to stop a Turkish convoy reaching a rebel-held town in northern Syria has killed three civilians, Turkey alleges.

Another 12 people were injured in the attack in Idlib province on Monday, the Turkish defence ministry said.

Idlib, one of the few areas not under government control, was supposed to be protected by a buffer zone agreed with rebel-backing Turkey last year.

Idlib is a terrorist stronghold and Turkey was supposed to clean it out, but they haven't. In actuality Ankara supports Al Nusra/Al Sham and the terrorists there have been attacking Russia's air base. But then again Turkey is Turkey.

As for the S-400's, I'm sure Russia is monitoring them. I wouldn't be surprised if Putin has a button to blow them up if need be. :roflol: Let's face it, Russia has fought enough wars against the Ottomans to know how quickly Turkish charm can turn into treachery.

As for Washington, it did its usual back stab and turned against the Kurds. The big problem is that Turkey is going into towns with Kurds as well as Armenian and Assyrian Christians and the Turkish army has never been known for its humanity. Genocide would be more like it.

Supposedly the US will be going with the Turkish army, which means the Christians will have about as much protection as they did in Kosovo - which was nil.

No doubt Russia gave Assad the go ahead to attack the convoy. Putin did tell Turkey that they should ask for permission from Assad before going into Syria. Yeah right!

Turks or Kurds what shall we do,
to make us true to both of you.
Not that we really care you know,
for it's a show, so we can go

and make our usual mess of things - Jeannette

Why did Putin sell Turkey missiles when they're supposedly supporting enemies of Russia in Syria? Seems Putin is pretty desperate to break up NATO if he was willing to do something so stupid in pursuance of that goal.

Of course breaking up Nato would be Moscow's major concern. They're armed along Russia's border for heaven's sake.

Putin is a liberal capitalist and he doesn't believe in any propaganda. NATO is a wonderful alliance which never found a coalition even against african countries. Do you really think that in case of major war and first possible losses every unarmed nation would stand for the americans and go and die for their interests? I would say that it was convinient to be a part of NATO, because the chance to get aggression from anywhere else was so little. If all the world became a part of NATO there would be noone to get attacked. But that doesn't create any real and serious ties between the nations. I would suggest that if the tendency to weaken economically continues - the most dirty words will be said towards americans not from russians but... from former NATO countries... :) We learnt that with a collapse of soviet system.

Returning to a deal with russian missiles. Turkey pays, Russia gets the money and gets a good advertisement. So it's a win-win deal without any politics. Politically Turkey tries to play their own game. So they can accept or reject it - it won't be decisive or even problematic. This technology is already exposed to the world. This is no longer any cecret. It just is for sale. Nothing more.
I think that if one day an american president will try to purchase the same system there will be no problem from Putin or the one who follows him.

As for that attack. The syrian army has already won its battle at Khan-Sheikhun. Assad and Russia found the correct moment when the attention of 'Big Brother' is paid to his chinese trade war partner. Turkey was not on time. At the moment their army is somewhat looking at the way their proxies are getting wiped from syrian territory together with other gangs. It might have some consequences. But the victory is the biggest one of them.

No one would want to stand with Trump in a military alliance, I expect, and I wouldn't blame them (too much) for it. He, the Russian candidate and Moscow Asset Governing America, poses an existential threat to NATO and every other alliance this nation has worked to develop and maintain while simultaneously helping Putin, perhaps inadvertently, to achieve his ambitions domestically and globally.

Under Trump, Captain America is not picking up the phone :(

You had already betrayed us and had betrayed alliance by supporting PKK terrorist organization. You created and used ISIS as a pretext to create your puppet state, everyone knows it, that's why you support PKK/YPG/HPG etc.

Russia has been preparing to sell us - Su-57 and Su-35. (and hello to Hellas! , you greeks will have new economic crisis again to supply weapon lol! hahahaha :D )

We do not care you sell us F-35 any more. Cry me a river, Jeannette!

We will clean your terrorist toys from Syria soon. ;)
Russians and we Turks will not allow Syria to be divided!

They are reliable nation, they showed us as they foul-weather friends! I hope Erdogan will not listen American embargos to Iran.

PLEASE KICK US FROM NATO, PLEAAAASE

Assyrians were massacred by Kurds during World War I and Kurds stole their land, we have no connection whatsoever. Talk with some Assyrians old ladies and men and be informed :) Look at the map, and look where is the Assyrian native land... see.... Kurds stole their lands

Armenians were all deported during 1915, because they had joined allied powers and started to help Russians. So they all became enemy and started to attack muslim civilians subjects of Ottoman Empire. (Armenians killed more than a half million muslims(Kurds, Turks etc) and thats why they were deported)
During deportation, muslim civilians (mainly Kurds) attacked the trains (they were going to Syria) of Armenians on railroads as they tried to take revenge. Thousands of Armenians were killed as well. It was a real bloody war. Nobody was innocent at that time.

Today more than 1 million Armenians live in California...it is the proof, there was not a genocide.

Look I'm not going to doubt what you said, I'm sure that there were killings of Turks by the Armenians. But let me tell you what I do know. When the Turks imprisoned the heads of the Armenian community in Istanbul, they told the Armenians that if they handed in their guns and showed their peaceful intent, the men will be let free. Instead of freeing them they began rounding up the defenseless Armenians and started them on their death march to the British controlled Iraq.

During WWI, we didn't declare war on Turkey, which we should have since they were allied with Germany. The problem was that there were thousands of American volunteers in Turkey working at schools, hospitals and orphanages tending to the Christian populations. These Americans were begging for the US to do something to stop the genocide, yet the fear was that if we did it would have endangered the Americans.

Everything that the Americans and foreigners saw in Turkey was registered in our Library of Congress in Washington. There is even a case of an Armenian who killed a Turk in Germany and let free when the judge found out about the atrocities - yet Germany was Turkey's ally.

Of course it doesn't excuse the atrocities committed or that might have been committed by others against the Turks. A Greek officer I knew said that they had tried to stop the men from committing crimes, but these actions were individual. They were not condoned by the government. With the Turks though, it was a government policy to ethnically cleanse the areas of their Christian populations.

As for the Armenians wanting their independence from the Ottoman Empire and why not? Wouldn't you? Look if Turkey doesn't want people to declare their independence then they should give them more rights and more benefits.

What ambitions of Putin, other than to raise the standard of living of his own people and stop the unipolar empire from its destructions and regime changes.

Everything Putin gained politically was handed to him first by Obama, and then by our foreign policy idiots who tied Trump's hands with their Russian collusion lies.

As for the Russian video, why did you say you weren't Russian?

My posting a Russian video doesn't make me Russian, you know. I advise you to learn Russian so that you have a hope and a prayer of understanding the situation in Russia. I set out to learn Russian for other reasons, but it is also vital in that regard. You have a completely false idea of Putin and Russia, evidently informed by the propaganda and disinformation that is directed at the West as well as your own personal bias.

I'm a devout Orthodox and understand Putin through that context. I also read his speeches and know his philosophical views - which is really based on the Orthodox view of not imposing anything on anyone. Proslytizing is not allowed whether it's Christian, Muslim or Homosexual. I also saw what Putin did for the Russian people and how he handles situations between different nations and cultures.

The liberalism you advocate would lead to a break up of the Russian Federation and that could only benefit foreign corporations and nations. Maybe someday when the threat of Washington with its destructive regime changes isn't hanging over their heads, there might be more freedom in Russia but it's up to them - not us.

I don't know what "liberalism" I advocate. I'm just in favor of the basic liberties I enjoy as an American. I also find it kind of sad when you compare this country to the Soviet Union when we couldn't be more different from such a regime. From the press to the economy to the Constitution, we have practically nothing in common with such a system, and you have to go pretty far left to find anyone with anything resembling Soviet Marxist ideals, and even there you won't find a great number of people.

Also, I saw a lot of Russians calling for a revolution the other day via that YouTube stream. They're sick and tired of Putin and his corruption, and the poverty he brings them.
