Despite all that money both the US and Russia got beaten by an army of goat herders barely out of the stone age. It only took Russia 9 years to admit defeat, but the US even after 17 years refuses to admit that it has lost yet another war.

You didn't read it, did you? All oil revenues went directly to Assad and the economy went into steep decline after 1970 because the Baathists had nationalized everything.

Al Jazeera unfortunately joined the newspeak of the MSM a few years ago, so take everything they say with a grain of salt. More than likely the man speaking in the video is a member of Al Nusra/Al Queda, since much of the FSA has now joined the Syrian army.

There are also no Iranian troops fighting with the Syrian army, although there are Russian officers. This might be why Trump tempered his tone.

Margot, why are you so concerned with what Syria has or doesn't have? I should think your concern would be more towards your Saudi Arabia - unless of course your kingdom has designs on Syria? If so, then they are going to have to battle it out not only with Russia, but also with China who sees Syria as essential for its new trade routes.
