Here are a couple of jewels from the left:

"I'm willing to discuss this in a reasonable way. Here's my take, Repeal the 2nd Amendment. Collect all 300 million firearms currently in this country and make the possession of a firearm a federal offense, punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole. That will act as a powerful deterrent to keep guns out of the hands of the "bad guys". We can pay a bounty for each firearm turned in, anywhere from $100 to $1000 each. At $1000 each, that would be the cost of about 30 jet fighters.

After the repeal is enacted, within one generation we will have an entire generation who never lived in country with guns. Do you think they will look back on the repeal as a bad thing or a good thing? How about 50 years later, or 100 years later? If we had it all to do again, we would allow this? I just don't see how the answer could possibly be yes, but I'm open to hearing your opinion."

    and

"I say gun ownership is ok but guns must be kept in an armory where the owner would sign out for their gun for the day or in the case of hunting, a multi-day permit if needed, after which the gun must be signed back in to the armory. If one was traveling to hunt away from their local area, they could either have their gun shipped to the armory at that location or rent a gun at that location. We eventually could have as safe a society as Japan that has about 5 deaths by gun a year vs our 33,000 per year. Our kids would be safe. We all would be much safer. We would have gun sanity in America."

If something even remotely similar to this was ever enacted we would have a civil war. Period.

The fact they believe their responses to be "reasonable" illustrates quite clearly why we refuse to give an inch.

So you only want to give me 1000 for a rifle I bought for 2500? How is that even close to fair. Libs just love taking from other people. And life in prison we have murders and rapist who do not get life in prison. Drug dealers that Obama let out on the street that ruin the lives of countless people. Do you even think this out?

At least he is honest. Most try to claim that they don't want to take our guns.

You mean two quotes from two random people?

They speak for other people no more than I speak for you.

Tell me, what do you think the word "not" means?

Because I don't think it means what you think it means.

Americans would lose their freedom and be under the thumb of the government. Look at China for an example. The prez of China decided to stay in perpetual rule of the country now.

What do the Chinese have to say about it? Not a ******n thing. What will they fight the gov with? Knockoff iPhones?

America was founded with guns and will stay free with guns.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Dems goal...abolish a free America.

You are correct. They do not speak for anyone, but there are many like them.

How about you not elect totalitarian despots to lead your government?

Or is that too much of a bother?

My post from yesterday was deleted. I guess it was considered rude. So, I apologize. I will rephrase my comment.

Your personal information indicates you do not live in the U.S. yet you seem concerned about who we have elected. Why do you care who we elect to run our country?

For that, you need only listen to the words of Jacob Marley.

We have a pretty good record of not electing totalitarian despots. In fact, I can't recall a single one (although FDR came close at times).

Isn't that what despots try to do--become Presidents for life?

Also, ask the Japanese Americans about FDR and totalitarianism.
