many of their unions support dems, although many rural cops might not be dem, the big cities far outweigh their numbers... right or wrong, most members vote the way of their local's wishes...

    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...52/trump-police-immigration-blue-lives-matter

"...It’s long been accepted — in practice, if not in policy — that the No. 1 job of law enforcement officers is to keep themselves safe, and that they ought to be allowed to do whatever it takes to ensure that. From that perspective, any attempts to restrict the power of police officers — whether from management or from the public — are rules imposed from the outside that could render officers unable to defend themselves. They are, or could be, threats to officers’ lives.

Combine this with some high-profile ambush-style attacks on police and you have the germ of a powerful idea: that criticism of police officers puts their lives in danger.

This is an idea that’s been put forward, broadly, by conservative analysts like Heather Mac Donald, who’s championed the “Ferguson effect” theory — that protests in response to high-profile police shootings end up empowering criminals and demotivating police. It’s encouraged by cable news coverage that has often conflated calls for reforms to police departments with “anti-police” sentiments, and blurred the lines between peaceful protest and riot — giving many suburban Americans the idea that the “inner cities” of America are grotesquely unsafe.

And it’s led to the adoption of “Blue Lives Matter” as a response to “Black Lives Matter,” in slogan and in sentiment, by Republicans — especially the law-and-order, racially conservative Republicans who make up the core of Donald Trump’s supporters.

Since 2014, Gallup polling has found that Americans’ confidence in police has polarized. While similar numbers of Americans say they’re confident in police between 2015 and 2017 (54 percent) as 2012 to 2014 (55 percent), the composition has changed. Liberals, African Americans, and Latinos are less confident in police. Whites, older Americans, and especially conservatives are more confident.

From 2012 to 2014, conservative confidence in police averaged 59 percent; from 2015 to 2017, it jumped 8 points higher, to 67 percent.

Speakers led Republican National Convention attendees in “Blue Lives Matter” chants. Blue Lives Matter bills that would make it a hate crime to target a police officer have already been passed in Louisiana — where the law has been used to arrest at least one protester — and are under consideration in other states. (One of the executive orders Trump signed appears to call for Congress to pass such a law at the federal level as well.)

The animating idea is that law enforcement officers, under President Barack Obama, were a persecuted group — the public hated them and would jump on them for any minor error, and the federal government was more interested in scrutinizing them than supporting them.

By supporting civil rights inquiries into the Ferguson and Baltimore police departments and expressing an interest in improving police-community relations, President Obama had, by this view, chosen “the side” of the disorderly protesters. And therefore, it was only appropriate for President Trump to choose “the side” of the police..."

This much is true. How can an officer help you with your call if he's dead? This goes for firefighters and EMTs. They're not going to risk their lives if they know it's mostly a lost cause.

This is true to an extent. As long as they don't violate your constitutional rights, they do what is necessary to keep themselves as safe as possible.

    So what's your point?

don't republicans work? the right seems to think all government employees are democrats - I would guess the mix is about 50\50

most black racists are in the dem party
more white racists are in the repub party

most people of both parties are not racists

No. I'm just reminding you, of how you already knew, that boots and alarm clocks have nothing to do with White Privilege.

Just go ask Black thugs, if you don't believe me.

Thanks for finally displaying the militarized, maniacal foundation which your idea of law enforcement is based upon. You sir, need to be kept reeeal far away from the occupation of, police officer, yes once you decided that this selfish greedy self-centered reason is what's most important for cops.

Cops and military should be reqd to have the same mindset, in terms of dying for their country. Not, staying safe.

And on the very day a cop decides to risk other people's lives and end other people's lives, because he needed to stay safe, is when he has compromised his oath's essence within Democracy. Once a cop decides to come to work, to stay safe, is when a cop deserves everything nefariously coming his way and should be reqd to retire.

Just because any of us Whitefolks squander away our, White Privilege, does not mean it is non-existent.

Making sure I go home at the end of my shift is being militarized?

Hate to break it to you, but looking out for number 1 first is a priority with every single profession out there. Whether it be police, firefighters, or the grocer. looking out for yourself is just as important as saving a life. How can a police officer save your life if he's dead from a previous call because he took unnecessary risks? BTW, I'm an interview away from becoming law enforcement, so thanks for giving me another reason to pursue this career. That being to spite the likes of you.

No. While first responders accept the possibility of dying in the line of duty, no first responder is expected to take unnecessary risks. That's why EMTs and firefighters don't enter a scene where someone is likely to be armed until the scene is cleared by police.
Can you give a specific example.

    Not possible.

You display far, far too much hatred toward Black people and you show far too much support for any force/organism which are racist toward Black people.

Lol. Yeah I am. If you want proof, PM me.

I never expressed any hatred towards blacks and I never supported any force/organization which are racist. I support facts, logic, and common sense.

Believe it or not, I used to have similar views to you. I don't think I thought cops were racist, but I did thought cops over militarized and had a brutality problem. In fact, that was one of main reasons why I wanted to become a cop, to maybe help change that. The more I looked into police procedures and the more cops I knew, the more I realize that for one, they are human beings with the same interests, families, hobbies, etc as you and I have. And for another, I realized the reasons why cops do what they do.

So now you're trying to shame a black person now?

Look, we've been through this multiple times. Your link does not establish that most white cops are racist nor does it establish that law enforcement in general is racist. In fact, it even failed to link any of the shootings of black people to white supremacists in law enforcement. Until you can link those three things, I'll stand by my claim and my personal experience with law enforcement.

Yes, we've been through this multiple times re how our Conscience can't hide from Racisms' facts. No matter how dishonest our keyboards are.

And, I like that about posting to you.

My links do establish that too many white cops are racist, and your emotions simply can't override FBI facts. Plus decades of studies establish that law enforcement in general is racist, and for a Black person to disagree with the most treacherous reality; he's dipped in Stockholm Syndrome.

At some point you have to quit blaming, me, because you lacked the forthrightness to discuss what White Supremacists in law enforcement means for Black-crime stats in real time.

    Shame a Black person?

    Man. Listen.

We live in a nation where you Black people have, given up, therefore 90% of the highest paid Black citizens have occupations which consist of assisting with anti-Preservation of Black people.

If you are honest, you see how much your views are inline with those types of people.

In the image of a Clarence Thomas, the worst Black person in Black peoples' USA history. Obama, a close 2nd place. Oh and of course, Oprah getting handed billions since '96 for showing disdain toward her own Black, inner-city, heterosexual males. The list goes on and on, of self-hating self-loathing Blacks who assist with White's Racism, then get personal rewards for it.

Yet Black people who were recent honor-grads, from HBCU, can barely get hired with their Math Science and Engineering degrees. And we don't hear a peep out of big media on this reality.

Oh, but You can bet big media will make sure most of us know who Zion Williamson is.

    Where have I been dishonest?
One racist cop is one too many but statistically speaking, racist cops are not a problem. I've encountered police all the time and not once have I ever been mistreated, suspected of a crime, or even pulled over. The officers that I've met never showed any sign of racism.

Lol. I never denied that police were racist in the past. I just don't see racism in law enforcement in modern times for the most part.

    Blame you for what?

    Such as?

You mean people who think for themselves and look at the evidence? Yeah, I should hope that I do have views inline with those types of people.
Wow! So blacks shouldn't be rich, shouldn't be president, and shouldn't seek to otherwise better themselves? That's a whole new angle of racism that I've never heard. Black people shouldn't be successful because they would betray their fellow blacks and perpetuate oppression against blacks. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Evidence? My understanding is it's hard with anyone with a degree to land a job, not just blacks.

    Who?

Doesn't exist, all the cases you cite were justified killings by the officers, It's easier for African-Americans to cry 'racism' than address the violent sub-culture of their young males. In reality US police shoot fewer African Americans than they ever have.

Oh, of course racists will justify the acts of other racists. That's why police are allowed to write their own reports/present the chain of events in an unfair, biased way which then gets treated as the gospel.

    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/fbi-white-supremacists-in-law-enforcement

So I'll take the FBI's word over yours, all day, as White Supremacists in law enforcement have a job a mission a mandate. To fake like Black citizens really are as violent and criminal as you also pretend that they are in your analysis here.

Claiming that white supremacists are in law enforcement does not equal to most cops are racist or even if these white supremacists are shooting blacks unnecessarily.
