Tattoos & their removal too. How do you feel about tattoos? Any instant impressions about the person who has them? The symbolic kind. The kind for ornamentation. Gang ID, etc. Moi? I do not like them. A tattoo brings to mind, "garbage". The person kind. I guess I am just, so very The kick off for this thread came from https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/powerful-photos-show-former-gang-213628227.html Powerful Photos Show Former Gang Members Without Tattoos Although the thread was stimulated by gang tattoo removal, lets discuss all things tattoo. Do you have one? Are you glad you do, indifferent, etc? Why tattoo? Impressions when viewing a person with a tattoo. Moi r > g And how to interpret the language of tattoos Is this a gang tattoo?
I have two problems with tattoos: 1) they can look good on young fit people, but old faded tattoos on old wrinkly people are just ugly; and 2) too many people with tattoos have random tattoos--they often don't mesh well.
I generally do not like tattoos. I think they are stupid and ugly and only make you look unwashed. Smaller tattoos are also dumb, especially some dumb quote on your wrist or shoulder, like many girls have - these only make you look pretentiously stupid. A very dumb trend imo.
We had a big thread thread on tattoos somewhere. Most young women have at least a small tattoo. Many have at least one that is fairly large - say 4" x 6". I never say or show it, but my reaction is disappointment. Don't ruin that beautiful body with graffiti!!!
I think small ones are okay, but when I see a person full of them, I wonder. It could be an attention seeking behavior. I think I like them more on men than on women though. I just think they look kind of trashy on a woman.
And just like in that thread, I'd like to object against the bolded in your post. Perhaps I am just being too OCD, but I would say "most" implies a minimum of 51% (i.e a majority) and although the number of tattooed women surely has increased, it is not yet the norm.
I know I mentioned this before, but a friend of mine let her boyfriend tattoo his name on her butt when she was a dumb teenager. Lol. It cost her THOUSANDS of dollars to have it removed, and now she has a scar.
Regarding the article you linked, I disagree with the premise that people shouldn't judge when it comes to gang tattoos. They were put on to make sure others know they were a gang member! So that is how they are judged because that was the intent. But regarding tattoos in general, large and small, albeit mostly covered with clothing, is common among the young professionals. I believe in moderation and commonsense in all things.
I have two from my time in the army and I don't regret them. I think it is silly to go into a shop and pick something out of a book or off of the wall but to each their own. I don't care for them on women at all.
Me either. Someone once said: "If you wear your belt below your ass, then you are a loser and you will always be a loser." Doubly so for face tattoos.
I like traditional Samoan tattooing and henna too, it looks pretty good. Not gang tats though...its just not aesthetically pleasing to me.
Sometimes they do it for cultural and heritage reasons; the Maori people have the Ta moko. It was done as a way to signify that the person was transitioning from boyhood into adulthood. It also looks really fierce, which I guess hearkens back to their warrior-like heritage.
And considering the Maori contributions to the 21st Century, maybe it is a heritage they should drop. You only get one chance to make a good first impression.
Henna is temporary and just used at very special, cultural events. A "ritual artform", one could say. This is, obviously, nothing like the modern fashion trend of destroying your body with perma-inc.
I wouldn't have a tatt, but I don't mind a discreet tatt on a mans arm. I knew an old man who contracted syphilis via a tattoo he had done in Palestine, during the war. Tatts on women look dodgey. Especially tramp stamps.
In of themselves, they don't bother me. It's the content of some that make me wary (gang-related, hate and hateful images, etc) but someone with a tattoo that's just there because they wanted one or has some significance to them does not bother me. Not yet, but I'm planning on getting a phoenix on my left shoulder. Haven't yet so I can't really say just yet...but this is something I'm looking forward to. My wife has a tattoo and we were talking about the possibility of getting a matching set done. Between my wife and myself, we have been knocked down so many times by life and we just keep picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and keep buggering on. Hence why the phoenix appeals to us. We've risen up from our own ashes many times that this would have some personal significance. Again they don't bother me. It's more the content that gets me one way or another.
Yeah. Great huge gangs of people streaming out of Canada to wreak havoc and confusion by offering everyone maple syrup and apologizing for startling us while doing it eh?
Henna was mentioned earlier. Why not more temporary tattoo like skin art. Nothing permanent. Nothing breaking the skin. Develop new stains that just wear away. How about glow-in-the-dark stains?
