"Gov. Greg Abbott, the Texas Republican, criticized state Democrats who fled to Washington, D.C., on Monday in an effort to deprive the Legislature of a quorum, thus the ability to vote on the GOP's sweeping elections overhaul bill."

I wonder if he'll really do it. I hope so.

    What do y'all think?

There should be something in their oath of office that should they break the faith they should be removed from office. Democrats in TX are the worst kind of snake. Cowardly too.

Doesn't sound like any "arrest" I ever heard of

"Once they step back into the state they will be arrested and brought back to the Capitol and we will be conducting business," he said.

FTR, I'm not a big fan of lawmakers doing this, but I suppose there comes a time when a certain action requires serious reaction...

Sounds good. The same should apply to every Republican Senator who refused to grant a confirmation hearing to Merrrick Garland.

Sane thing - using the legislative rules to impede progress of a legislative step.

    I agree.

Let's start with Ted Cruz for inciting sedition.

Gosh, I don't recall the republican senate running away so there couldn't be a vote. Merrick did get a vote. How's he working out so far?

Not for the job he was up for in 2016, but really awesome revisionist history there... Is that ya'lls full time thing now??

But, you unintentionally point out the general hypocrisy of today's GQP party. Garland was voted 70-30 to be AG. If he had received a hearing in 2016, McConnell and his fellow ************ KNEW it was possible Garland could have been approved for SCOTUS in a full Senate vote, even before the nuclear option.

Ultra qualified jurist, but the jury is out on his job as AG so far...

He didn’t get a confirmation hearing on SCOTUS.

So - is it ok for legislators to use procedural rules to achieve their objectives or not?

We have a number of laws for interfering with official business; law enforcement, investigations, legal proceedings, etc. Looks like we now need laws for these little butthurt child stunts of lawmakers not attending sessions. Every one of these LOSERS should be removed from office.

I thought for a long time that the Democrats have played dirty in the US. But it's great to see them finally stooping right down to the Republic level and fliying the s*** at them that they deserve. With rare exception, Republicans have proven themselves over the past few years to be the dirtiest, scumiest politicians of all. Every bit of Karma they get they deserve.

You made a false statement. Deliberately. Now you try and brush it off ?

Ok, now every claim you make on this site will lack credibility. Too bad for you.
    Or you could own up.

I guess context is too much to ask from some folks. But hey. He's the AG today. And thankfully, his brand of legal BS isn't a standard on the court. Now that's a win.

So you’re not owning up to your false statement? Okedoke.

Which false statement was that again? In context, he did get a vote. he is the AG. Or did that fly over your head?

Not the first time we've seen Dem Fleebagers pull this stunt. Will other members of the Left now treat us to lectures over the evils of the filibuster?

Nice try. You know very well that he didn’t get his SCOTUS vote and now you are flailing.

    YUGELY flailing...

How hard is it just to say "Yeah, I forgot he didn't get a vote for SCOTUS, but he did for AG"..

The only thing worse than a screw up is a double down, especially when EVERYBODY knows you are wrong...

I guess this means the Senate Republicans can all go home and deny the Democrats a quorum.
