Horse poop. Scoop Jackson was a militarist who favored FDR programs, and no neocon I know today can be considered a 'lineal defendant ( decendant? ) of Scoop Jackson. Neocons are much closer to neoliberals insofar as favoring free markets, but differing with them on foreign policy.
Neoconservatives are republicans, ( of course there are some moderate democrat hawks who are considered to be neocons, as well) it's just one of the flavors of conservativism -- everyone on that list are all republicans or rather, were republicans before Trump finally settled and made up his mind to be a republican. Neoconservatives are moderates, but interventionist hawks on foreign policy. George Bush and many on his team were neocons. I'm willing to bet each one on that list vary in their conservative philosophy whereupon you cannot simply pidgeonhole them all into one flavor of conservative. YOu are implying they are not republicans, and your implication is absolutely false. Once thing is certain, Trump's movement is not conservative at all. I would say everyone on that list are mainstream republicans. Many have left the party because the party has left them, and went with Trump. The GOP is dead. But everyone on that list were solid and practicing members of the GOP before Trump came along and smashed it dead as spent doornails. Anyone following Trump is going to find out his politics are the politics of a decaying movement. All he did was give an under represented sector of society a voice, who never really had one before and duped them into doing their ugly and illegal thing on January 6, and a good swath of them will be in jail soon, thanks to Trump, who threw each and every one of them under the bus. But, notably, that they were easily duped into doing it says a lot about who they were.

As for 'big government' all republicans have been paying lip service to the idea, but with each and every republican who ever took the office, the budgets and the government grew, so, that particular point is meaningless.

 

Ah you told the truth, almost. There is no question that both parties have been involved in unwarranted spending of non existent government money. Both parties have grown government. The error is that it is not meaningless. in fact it is the only truly important issue we face today in federal government. Everything else is chicken feed compared to the fiscal irresponsibility of federal government. It isn't lip service. The government simply ignores it and does what it wants to do.

What I meant by 'meaningless', is that , as you say, both parties are guilty of same, and as a point of criticism, it's meaningless precisely in the sense that it not something prone to dems, but both parties. Your criticism to dems for big spending isn't unique to dems, and that is what I meant by 'meaningless'. Of course it's a valid issue, and meaningful in that sense, But, if you levy that criticism against dems, and you want that criticism to be meaningful, then you must tell the whole truth, that both parties are guilty of same, which you didn't do. But, the debate is about where the money goes. Repubs want more military, less entitlements, and dems want less military, and more entitlements.

 

I didn't blame dems for crazy spending. I blamed government. The debate is not about where the money goes. The debate is about spending money the government doesn't have to spend. Democrats appear to care less about government borrowing and money supply expansion than republicans do. But republicans play along anyway. It is corruption. It is the most serious issue facing america by a very very long shot. We argue about the names of schools or why people should get a vaccine while ignoring the path to the economic destruction of the nation. You can have all the military and social spending you want as long as you don't borrow or print the money to pay for it. I'm very serious.

Has anyone ever asked any of those weirdoes as to what Republican/Conservative successful/productive policy of Trump's they disagreed with? Where do they stand on the issues of the day?
