We agree on something. I have three feral cats living in my yard (for about the last 5-6 years). The female had kittens (she's since been fixed) & three of the kittens are now my inside cats. We used to have two dogs - a deaf Dalmatian my step-son saved from being euthanized - and a mutt who was losing his home because his person was being deployed. The dogs are now gone - old age. If my health wasn't so bad, we would probably have another (small, this time) dog, but I couldn't properly take care of it.

Since it is winter, a good and inexpensive outside shelter for animals can be made by scrounging two wooden shipping pallets. Put one down in a (relatively) sheltered area, put cinder blocks on opposite sides, put in straw, put the other pallet on top & cover with a tarp - total cost perhaps$25.00, less if you are a good scrounger.

I've got two cats. The first I got at a pet adoption fair or something like that. I was walking around just checking out the different animals. I knew I wanted a cat but I didn't know what I was really looking for. I came up to a cage that had 3 kittens in it. I picked him up and just held him for a bit. He was very calm, very timid and didn't seem to mind at all. I ended up taking him home. That first day he was scared and kept running from me but by the next day he was following me everywhere and would try and race me to whatever room he thought I was going to. Had him for a year and a half now. Still my best bud.

The other one my roommate was actually cat sitting for while her owner was out of town. She eventually told him that she would be on the road a lot and wouldn't be able to keep her so she asked if we wanted her. Besides already growing attached to her, she and my cat got along pretty well. She has since adopted me over my roommate since I spend more time with her then he does.

Their's also three stray cats outside that I feed on a regular basis. Their is one that I would like to bring in and adopt but I'm not sure how it would do with the other two and I'm not sure how my landlord would feel about it.

This picture here I took about a month back. I came home from work and picked my cat up, and whenever I went to set him down he somehow climbed on top of me. So I sat down on the couch where the other joined us.

Cats seem fond of 5 gallon buckets placed on the side if placed in an area that they can claim as their turf. It becomes their pseudo cave

I've had really good experiences with abandoned animals finding a home with us. they seem....so grateful and loving.

I have to cats that I saved from death. Both were sickly (rhinovirus) and malnourished, quite weak really as they had been abandoned by their mother. I had many cats and dog in my life but those are both the most affectionate and intelligent cats I ever owned... They're now 3 years old.
