Moolk cast a whole inventory of unsubstantiated aspersions on Democrats, then had the audacity to accuse democrats of demonization of those who disagree all the while his comment was demonizing democrats

Not only was his diatribe unsubstantiated, it totally ignored the plethora of demonizations the leader of the republicans made on anyone who disagreed with him, during his presidency.

    ANd you back him up?

    Interesting, indeed.

Fact is, democrats riot and support violence of those they dislike as a status quo far more than republiicans.

Dems are attempting to rig elections, are attempting to eliminate your right to own a gun, are for open borders, etc etc etc. They want to force to you vaxx, force you to mask, arrest you if you refuse to do what they want, have you fired from your job, etc etc etc.

Dems support propaganda news, fake news, the enemy of the people.

Your representations of Trump are again fake news, driven by propaganda. Like it or not you are on the wrong side of things. You are on the side of authoritarians.

    Its disgusting.

And BLM riots are inspired by democrats. You refuse to condemn them, you openly support them, you call their take over of cities a summer of love, you bail them out of jail. BLM riots ARE democrat riots.

Often I will see someone attempt to limit the scope of a political term, one about which thousands of books have been written, reduced to the few lines in a dictionary, as if that definition settles an argument or point being made about what is, or is not, the term being discussed.

Anyone who has ever dove into the world of academia, poked at a few things scholarly, knows that you can't reduce some concepts to a dictionary definition.

For example, 'socialism'. Heck, if you printed a pdf file of just Wikipedia's entries on 'socialism' and 'democratic socialism', you'll have a 150 page report. Clearly a one liner doesn't define or settle the argument about what is, or is not, socialism.

    Ahhhh, and guess what?

    "Republic" is such a term.

    Wiki's table of contents:

Try printing all those pages the links link to, and I"ll bet it's a veritable tome.

So, I don't want to hear this crap that a 'Republic' is merely 'blah blah' .

What you need to do is define it as it is applied to America, and not proclaim what a republic is, or isn't, based on a dictionary's definition, because in such a case, on the journey to scholarship, where precisely such a term resides, a dictionary is merely the starting point, NOT the ending point.

In my view, off hand, I would say America is a constitutional federal republic/representative democracy with a bicameral legislature presiding over a consortium of states and territories (of which the term 'federal' implies), noting that, 'republic' and 'representative democracy' are not necessarily mutually exclusive terms.

I think the key thing to know about a 'republic' is that it is a government of appointed or elected leaders, as opposed to a Monarch. Hell, a dictatorship can be listed as a 'Republic". There are Islamic Republics, and on down the line. In other words, it's a really broad term.

They risk their lives to get to other places, too.

India has constructed a wall to try to reduce the number who are risking their lives to get to India.

There are large numbers trying to get into Europe and UK.

    Etc.

So, what are all these facts saying? Are they saying, "Gee, people seem willing to risk life in order to not starve."? Or, ??

Looks like good ol' Theo had overlooked the fact that the English language had been imported and imposed by the Brits when colonizing the territory.

We're either drawing down our nukes or we aren't. If we are then we should get credit for that.

That's because we have no choice. Russia and China are choosing armed confrontation, and we have to respond to that.

Ronald Reagan signed a treaty reducing us to 6000 deployed warheads.

George H. W. Bush signed a treaty reducing us to 3500 deployed warheads.

George W. Bush signed a treaty reducing us to 2200 deployed warheads.

Barack Obama signed a treaty reducing us to 1550 deployed warheads.

We were disarming as much as was possible.

Because Russia and China are giving us no choice but to escalate.

I would encourage them to look at how we were disarming until we were forced to rearm in order to face a new threat.

I suppose I was unfair to the Palestinians, but you are being unfair to Israel.

What we have here is a situation where the only way out is for both Israel and the Palestinians to come to an agreement without it being imposed them from outside, but the problem is that they are not able to reach an agreement.

I don't know what the answer is. No one else seems to know either. The first person to come up with a way out for both sides will earn themselves a Nobel Peace Prize.

Russia and China aren't giving us any choice.

    We aren't the bad guys.

The point of the tactical nukes is that they will be used on friendly EU soil.

Using big strategic nukes on EU soil to dislodge a Russian invasion would also kill millions of European citizens and leave parts of the EU contaminated with fallout.

Small nukes that land direct hits with a clean yield will not inadvertently kill millions of European citizens or leave the EU contaminated with fallout.

I'm fine with us being remembered so long as the full context justifying our use of those nukes is also remembered.

NATO was wrong to take Kosovo from Serbia. Doing so undermined their ability to complain when Russia invaded Georgia and Ukraine.

No. In Syria Assad is committing genocide against his own people and is concocting a phony story about terrorists to fool people into not standing against his genocide.

    Hardly illegal.

That is very good news. It means that there will not be war between NATO and Russia.

I am less confident of avoiding war with China.

    It's back.

I would hardly call Russian aggression against Georgia and Ukraine the right path.

What choice do we have? We need to be able to protect ourselves and our allies.

My answer is to forge a strong international consensus that no sanctions against either Russia or Syria should ever be removed until the Syrian conflict has been referred to the International Criminal Court.

Joe Biden simply pulled out of Afghanistan for no reason. The Taliban takeover is entirely his fault.

I expect that the Iraqis will not allow themselves to be Iranian puppets. But the US will not be involved in that fight.

Russia is aggressively invading both Ukraine and Georgia.

    International waters.

Falsely accusing Ukraine of being Nazis is Russian propaganda.

Ukraine is not committing genocide. They are merely trying to defend themselves from the ongoing Russian invasion.

Of course we are providing weapons to Ukraine so they can try to defend themselves. Of course I am OK with that.

Russia is the aggressor in Georgia and Ukraine.

NATO is the aggressor in Serbia.

When Russia invades Moldova I'm sure they will release lots of propaganda about how horrible the Moldovans are.

Not overlooked or forgot. Makes no difference who spoke english first. It was by far the dominant language during the colonial years and throughout the forming and history of the nation. It IS our language.
I realize the liberals like to throw out everything just of the sake of objecting to the status quo- but that's their problem.

We have some groups here now whose primary language is called "double-speak", but that too is not popular with or acceptable to real Americans.

Apparently you know nothing of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

I don't want to hear any **** about Crimea (or the fake invasion thereof) when you support the people of Kosovo to declare independence...after the US illegally destroyed Yugoslavia under false pretenses.

Russia is NOT in any part of Ukraine. Period. End of story. Learn about the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).

Furthermore, learn about the $500 billion in US taxpayer money that was supposed to be used to rebuild infrastructure in the Donbass (DPR and LPR), especially electricity transmission lines....but the Nazis in Kiev put it in their pockets and cut the electricity to the Donbass (which is now supplied by Russia).

AZOV Battalion. White phosphorus. Burning Russian people alive in Odessa.

You're a little behind on the facts. May I suggest doing your own research instead of relying on the fake news?

Your tax dollars support and train AZOV. This is AZOV (A3OB in Ukrainian):

Of course I do. They are where Russia aggressively invaded Georgia.

I fully agree that NATO illegally stealing Kosovo from Serbia means that they have no standing to complain about Russia invading Georgia and Ukraine (and likely Moldova in the future).

But Russia did invade Ukraine in Crimea.

There is no basis for condemning Russia for invading, but that does not change that they invaded.

In addition to Crimea, Russia is also invading eastern Ukraine.

Setting up puppet regimes does not alter the fact that Russia invaded to create those puppet regimes.

My point was clear and you didn't counter it in any way. Were you attempting to?...if so try again.

People are trying to get to the US like no other country and they'll risk their lives to do so or wait in line for years to get here. There's a reason for that.

You can act like people are trying to get to india in the same manner they're trying to get here, but you'd be wrong. Also, if india were so great, they wouldn't be sending their high school and college graduate here in droves.

This country will eventually look like a South America/MexicoAfrica rolled into one. It’s not going to be pretty. White liberals aspire the United States to be something like these Socialist European countries but that’s never going to happen. Why? Because in those European counties, the population is vastly white. You can’t import the third world and expect to create some little paradise. It’s not going to happen. We could very well live to see the day people flee the US instead of coming to it.

BLM riots are inspired by cops shooting unarmed blacks.

    Why do they do that?

Trump inspires hatred, that's why. He's lowered the tone of America, hate crimes are on the rise because of his incendiary rhetoric.

Everything I posted is absolutely true is there isn't a damn thing you can say that changes that fact.

Note that it was republicans who attacked the capitol.

It's very interesting - not to mention very telling - that:

Well, the Founders sure thought they were forming a Republic for us; some were stridently outspoken about that. IMHO, the most accurate, concise title is "republic", but I'm alright with "constitutional republic" though redundant I believe.

Your title, "constitutional federal republic" is quite good considering some states have initiative and referendum. But then again, the state constitutions and the states' forms of government. Phew, huh?

Two responses: You are counting every military excursion as a war which is uncommon and not helpful, and even with that we were not at "war" for 225 years. More saliently my assertion, which you are trying to refute, said "America is the most tolerant, free, supportive, advanced, economically advanced, and benevolent country in the history of the world" and said nothing at all in the least about any war or military excursion.

Still, it was/is the common accepted language of the country, and one of the most important characteristic that supports cohesion.

The writing in the Federalist papers ignored centuries of context on the term, but they had a specific understanding of it.

There understanding of a 'republic' was that of a representative democracy, and there use of the term 'democracy' meant 'direct democracy'.

Republic is nothing more than a government of appointed or elected leaders.

By itself, it's too broad of a term, it has to be refined.

There are quite a few republics on the planet earth, from Islamic to Constitutional, etc.
