How does one become anti democratic in a modern democratic western world?

Well it's easy and I'll explain why, when I think of democracy concerning political candidates I think of a horse racing track. Now if you have billions upon billions of dollars and you're at a horse racing track where you wanted to win no matter what, how would you go about it?

It's simple, you would bet on all the horses so that no matter what the outcome is you stand to win no matter what. Are you seeing a parallel between my analogy and that of the democratic political apparatus? You should.

So, what you have is a few individuals or maybe a group of individuals that buy up all the political candidates where no matter who is elected their interests are being served no matter what. The important aspect of course concerning this rigged political system is to present the illusion of free will or choice amongst the majority of the population. They must be led to believe that they have a choice or say in the matter otherwise the whole system falls a part.

Now for the next question, what's the difference between a group of dictators controlling things in the background versus a single political dictator?

Actually if you bet on all the horses you would end up losing more than you won.

That's how tracks make their money.

    lol

    Don't gamble much do you?

If you have an almost infinite amount of money in the beginning standing to make much more money after the finish line, not really.

You seriously think betting on every horse in every race is going to make you money?

Gosh, I wonder why horse gamblers have never thought of that.

    lol

Such wagerers calibrate their bets to likely vs unlikely outcomes; more on horses more likely to win, less on those less likely to do so.

    I'm guessing you don't gamble...?

That is true, in gambling the house always wins, since the odds are stacked in its favor.

In money donations to politicians, however, there is no house. In our binary system of two parties, candidates, If you donate 50% of your overall donation to each, you'll win, no matter who gets elected. What you win is political influence. Why do you think it is that Trump will pick up the phone if Sheldon Adelson calls, but not of you call? Large donations are buying power and access, that's why they need to be limited to save democracy. With a conservative SC for decades, however, and the opinion of those conservative judges that money is speech, there is NO chance that this will happen any time soon.

The funny thing is that the rubes will cheer for someone like Kavanaugh, who will rule against their economic interest anytime it matters, except maybe in abortion law.
