Then they should call the cops and scream murder! They haven't yet.....

They can believe anything silly thing they want as long as they don't try to legislate their silliness.

A baby may or may not be valuable for lots of reasons to different individuals or groups.

Non sequitur. A toddler is very much like a mature adult.

Hey why not call a zygote a puppy, you can get lots of mileage out of it. A fraction of an ounce embryo is not a baby.....hey call it an adolescent and then you’ll be pro choice .
Let me guess, you can’t get pregnant. I think it’s uterus envy

So if you removed acorns from the ground, you can be accused of destroying a forest?

Your analogy is wrong, an acorn is to an oak tree as a zygote is to a child. A toddler is just a stage of personhood, like an oak tree sapling is to a mighty oak.

If you can't answer my questions don't bother responding. I've never heard the phrase: "We lost the zygote" after a miscarriage. I wonder why?

My original query asked for an explanation of how is it considered offensive for a bystander at a baby's funeral who died at 1 day old to say things like "what kind of life would it have had anyway", or "were you going to adopt it and care for it?", or "it's better off this way", but making those statements just 2 days earlier about the same being, is considered an appropriate defense of abortion rights?

Because calling it a baby is what's called common usage. I called my little red sports car my "baby", that didn't make it one.

Anyone can call a fetus anything, a bun in the oven, a princess, a baby, a frog....but it will always be, legally and scientifically, a fetus.

I think it's the fact that they actually consider it a baby when it is wanted.
Answer why these sayings that are typically used in the defense of abortion: ("what kind of life would it have had?" "it's better off this way; were you going to personally care for it?") are considered an appropriate defense of abortion 1 day before birth, but if said just 2 days later at a 1 day old's funeral, the exact same language would be highly offensive?

Yes, I'm sure the mother and family think of it as a baby....that does not prove a thing about the legality of abortion or women's rights.
It is SCIENTIFICALLY AND LEGALLY A FETUS no matter if it's called a watermelon.

If somone wants to go to court and have a fetus declared legally a baby because they said so, let 'em have at it...

I have never heard those phrases as a defense for abortion and they aren't. I have heard a defense for the rights of women to HAVE abortions...

    ,

Oh, DO show where anyone advocates abortion one day before birth...how absurd..

Yes, it would and I don't know anyone who would say such a thing especially if the parents could hear...and WHY would somone say that at the funeral....you are rambling...

So is a baby in uterus. Neither one has adult teeth, vision is not fully developed, brain patterns are very primitive, muscle coordination is poor, yet they each have an ability to suck their thumb. In fact the toddler has much more in common with the baby in uterus than adults!

No, a toddler does not depend on another's body to sustain it's life, like an adult. A fetus depends on another's body to sustain it's life.

The oak pictured is an ancient oak. Quite different than a oak sapling. An acorn is an oak and contains all the makings of one. This is a stupid game.

Those sayings are a classic defense of the morality of abortion, and are used in most abortion threads. It's what I am responding to in this thread. You accused me of wanting children to suffer in another thread which is basically the same tactic I'm responding to here.

Oh, now it's the "morality " of abortion....changes with the wind, I guess.

    ...and you are doing tit-for-tat?

Again those "sayings" are not a defense of abortion...or morality...

    Foxie....I don't have a point.
We don't seem to have a lot in common. Our back and forth is often strained and surface. Maybe I could show you something that would help you understand my frame of reference. Not to convince you, but rather, help you to understand. I admit there is more about you I could understand if you would share a little deeper. I begin most all of my days in prayer. It often begins in the night while I am asleep. Here is a prayer of the Psalmist with which I often concur. In it I find a lot of strength. This may not be at all something to your liking.....but as I said, it helps to shape my own frame of reference. You can, if you like, read it on Bible Gateway.com. I tend to like the NIV version.

    Psalm 139
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

Its an excellent analogy going over your head. I’ll try to explain it. An acorn is not yet a tree...a zygote is not yet a child. An acorn is a POTENTIAL tree, a zygote is a POTENTIAL child, ..

We say we lost a baby because we personify it....even though it isn’t a baby. We don’t use the word embryo or fetus either if we are planning to let it develop. If I throw away an acorn I don’t say oh I just cut down an oak tree. And I don’t get your comparing born babies to zygotes. A baby who dies in uteri two days before it birth was obviously viable.

    If it’s born , it’s a baby.
