My neighbors daughter went to NYC to work without health insurance. She died in her late twenties because the emergency room early on said it was non life threatening, which it was at the time. They referred her to “her” primary care and specialist which she didn’t have for follow up care with more blood tests and meds. An infection got away from her before she could return and she died on the operating table her next visit weeks later......in the ER. This is repeated way too often everywhere. No, the ER does not provide HEALTHCARE as we know it, they provide only “critical care.”

Trump minions don’t know the difference.

Nope. I use facts and informed information .
It’s a fact that this disease is best mitigated if you know “ who has it.” That seems logical to “my” well informed mind.
But no, for a none science believer who seems to say things like..”throw them out into the streets..”
    That’s special.....

Italy has universal healthcare. A fat lot of good it did them. The doctors there are faced with the problem of who to save and who to let die.

If it comes to that here, I say save the citizens and let the illegals die.

You are hoping Republicans die, that is extra special.

Be that as it may, this disease is going to overwhelm the system and I think we should treat citizens before illegals.

No, the casualties are going to be big city democrats. Rural Republicans are much more likely to avoid infection.

It makes for a good story line, but older people are more susceptible to dying....republicans are older on average.

That is just another story line, too. Even old people won't die if they don't get infected in the first place.

But I am not surprised to find you rooting for the virus.

Health care is available to the poor and folks with no insurance, you'll just have to stand in line to get it. I know, I went 7 years with no health insurance. I went to the County Health Center for regular stuff and the County Hospital if I needed anything else. Did I have to wait in line...yep. Did it suck...yep. But, I wasn't in a position for full time employment and company sponsored health care. Am I now...yep. I work hard for a Cadillac Health Plan at the age of 61 with disabilities. If I can still work after being run over by a 28,000 lb Armored Truck on the highway at 55 mph, for those that simply can't there is SSI Disability/Medicare. For those that won't, go wait in line at the County, you'll get care.

And Italy’s economy is nearly totally dependent upon tourism, They and all the free countries around them due to the calamities of war and disease, have UHC. Crawling under a rock and hiding from viruses is not an option Trump and his lackies promote.

Italy's economy is nearly totally dependent on tourism?

"Italy is a large manufacturer (overall the second in EU behind Germany)[28] and exporter[29] of a significant variety of products including machinery, vehicles, pharmaceuticals, furniture, food, clothing, and robots.[30] Italy has therefore a significant trade surplus. The country is also well known for its influential and innovative business economic sector, an industrious and competitive agricultural sector (Italy is the world's largest wine producer),[31] and for its creative and high-quality automobile, naval, industrial, appliance and fashion design. Italy is the largest hub for luxury goods in Europe and the third luxury hub globally.[32][33]"

Why should anyone take anything you say seriously anymore? You just make stuff up.

Once again: The Emergency Room treats those without healthcare insurance even if it is not a true emergency.

    So what is your point?

Whether they are "required" or not, the simple fact is that they do.

So it is your statement that appears "uninformed."

Once again: I do not compartmentalize my brain. I do not devote half of it to reason, and the other half to obvious mythology.

If I felt that the Bible fell into the latter category, I would simply reject it--not attempt to reconcile it with that which is the product of reason.

Why would you find this approach to be especially objectionable?

Is your name Mike Pence ? I really don’t care how much you want or don’t want to pray to god for solutions instead or educating yourself. It’s anyone in Gov, including Pence and Moscow Mitch, who can’t commit to science instead of religion when making decisions I care about. The proof is in their own actions. The entire admin. since 2018 has committed to eliminating Emergency response team to pandemics along with attempting to reduce funding the CDC. All that’s left, is Pence and prayer. It’s a ridiculous appointment.

    Really ?
A question with an obvious answer. ERs deliver “critical care” NOT full Range healthcare. Get a medical dictionary and read the difference and stop wrongly inferring that ERs deliver full service healthcare....they don’t.
They don’t do cancer treatments, chemotherapy and a plethora of other longer term life SAVING treatments. Hello !

Why should anybody pay attention to what you say? You just make things up to try to win arguments.

Please answer my question--directly--without any reference to Mike Pence.

    Fair enough?

My question is this: If the Bible is based upon irrational beliefs (by twenty-first-century standards), then why should I anyone who is entirely rational--myself included--claim to believe both it and science?

Do you think you can answer that question?

From the site of Gateway Urgent Care (in my county):

"Our staff has years of experience treating patients in the Emergency Room, and our trained staff allows us to take care of problems that other clinics can’t. We treat you for flu symptoms, cuts, urinary tract infections, broken bones, general physicals, and more. Our Clinic is one of the only emergency care facilities that has a X-Ray on site."

You’re funny. You seem to do anything to get a pat on the back. Why are you confusing “ urgent care facilities” with ERs ?
They are NOT THE SAME. They aren’t attached to real hospitals.
You kept sayin ERs. They are not the same as urgent care facilities.

    a definition from......
“Urgent care is a form of medical care that focuses on conditions that are not potentially life- or limb-threatening emergencies, but still require prompt carewithin 24 hours or less,” Timothy Tan, M.D., M.P.H., an assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and an attending physician at Mount Sinai Urgent Care, tells SELF.”

I'll give you a perfect example of just how that works, prior to hurricane Wilma I pulled some money out of my savings and bought generator and a slew of gas cans, we hadn't had a hurricane hit our area for over a decade and I figured we where due to get hit.

And then we got hit, power was interrupted for three weeks and I working for a utility needed to be able to come home recharge and get some rest which required having the A/C on, well FEMA arrived to save the day and and one of the things they where doing was cutting vouchers for people to go out and buy generators at highly inflated prices, I applied for one and was turned down because I already had a generator which I paid for, had I not prepared FEMA would buy me one, but since I prepared I was ineligible for any assistance.

Then there was the free ice and water where people stood in long lines or worse yet idled their cars for hours, burning up gas that could not be replaced just to get a case of bottled water and two bags of half melted ice, but hey it was a free government handout, it just took a little time to get the free stuff.

And that's the way it works when dealing with bureaucrats with no sense of urgency and people who just want free stuff.

By the way my family didn't need any free water or ice, we stocked up and had enough power to share with the neighbors.

Nope. There are plenty of calm and measured single minded appearing fanatics. Pence is one. Being ignorant of facts while remaining clam and measured about fake stuff isn’t unusual in the religious world.
