Are you saying that you had never read that passage? The Bible contains numerous stories of cannibalism. The biblical stories aren't against cannibalism but it was against the rules to eat bloody meat.

Genesis 9:4 (CEV) = But life is in the blood, and you must not eat any meat that still has blood in it.

According to Christian teachings, Jesus had only a human Jewish mother, and was not related to Joseph. A human Jewish father, however is essential for anyone to be a legitimate heir to the throne of David, which the real messiah will be.

Mary’s genealogy is completely irrelevant to Jesus’ supposed lineage to King David. For good reason, nowhere in the New Testament is Mary’s genealogy recorded. As mentioned above, matrilineal ancestry is irrelevant to tribe identification. Both the first chapter of Matthew and in the third chapter of Luke contain a putative genealogy of Joseph alone. Although these two genealogies completely contradict each other, neither suggests that Mary was a descendant of king of David. Joseph’s genealogy is irrelevant to Jesus because according to two out of four Gospels claim that Joseph was not Jesus’ father. The author of the Book of Mark, the earliest of the four Gospels, knows nothing of a virgin birth, and accordingly, begins his book with the baptism of Jesus. The Book of John contains no infancy narrative.

It should be noted that both Catholic and Protestant traditions hold that whereas Matthew’s genealogy is that of Joseph, Luke’s genealogy is of Mary. Although this tradition is nowhere to be found in the New Testament, it was a necessary doctrine for the Church to adopt.

Nowhere in the third Gospel, or in the entire New Testament, for that matter, is there a claim that Mary was a descendant of the House of David. On the contrary, Luke plainly asserts that it is Joseph who was from the House of David, not Mary.

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

    (Luke 1:27)

In fact, Luke claims that Mary was the cousin of Elizabeth, who he says was a descendant of Aaron the high priest,1 placing her in the tribe of Levi, not David’s tribe of Judah. Moreover, in Luke 2:4, the author writes that the reason it was necessary for Joseph and Mary to return to Bethlehem was because it was Joseph, not Mary, who was from the House of David.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David.

The Paul character got ticked off trying to get the backstory straight so he essentially said to hell with the genealogy part of the story and focus on the crucified part.

1Timothy 1:4 (CEB) = They shouldn’t pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. Their teaching only causes useless guessing games instead of faithfulness to God’s way of doing things.

Galatians 3:1 (CEV) = You stupid Galatians! I told you exactly how Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross. Has someone now put an evil spell on you?

    Elephants in Israel =

    1 Maccabees 6:29-38 (CEB) =
29 Mercenary forces from other kingdoms and the Mediterranean islands also joined him. 30 The total number of his forces was one hundred thousand army troops and twenty thousand cavalry, with thirty-two elephants trained for war.31 They came through Idumea and camped against Beth-zur. For many days, they fought and constructed war engines. But the Jews would go out and burn the war engines with fire and continued to fight bravely.

    Battle at Beth-zechariah
32 Then Judas marched away from the elevated fortress and camped at Beth-zechariah, opposite the king’s camp. 33 Early in the morning the king marched out, taking his army on a forced march along the road to Beth-zechariah. His troops readied themselves for battle, and they sounded their trumpets. 34 They aroused the elephants using grape and mulberry juices, to get them ready for battle. 35 They distributed the animals among groups of soldiers. With each elephant, they stationed one thousand infantry wearing armor and brass helmets. Five hundred select cavalry were also assigned to each animal. 36 The troops positioned themselves wherever the animal was. Wherever it went, they went; and they never left it. 37 Strong covered wooden towers were set on top of the elephants. Special harnesses were fastened on each animal. On each were four armed men who fought from there, and an Indian driver also.38 The remaining cavalry were stationed on either side of the elephants, to harass the enemy while being protected inside the two flanks of the army.

If you are looking for "personal interpretations " there is no point in reading it. The new testament isn't meant to be interpreted. It means now exactly what ot meant when Paul wrote it. If I interpret it by "what it means to me" i am reading it wrong.
Paul was writting it to Timothy not to me.
What it feels like to me is irrelevant.
It's called exegesis. Meaning to pull out.
When reading the bible you should be trying to draw out what the author meant.

"We" may under some circumstances read the same line
and come away with a different paraphrase.

And since "We" don't read ancient Greek, we must trust in someones
translation - often wrong such as
    Thou shall not kill

    is really,
    Thou shall not murder
from ancient Hebrew to modern English.

    Meant to be interpreted.
Moi suggest any reading event to brain gets interpreted.
    At least for us dyslexics.

And if you or others have such a biggie of interpretation wondering, such as

"Did Ja'el violate the laws of hospitality?"
    She recognized Sisera.
Offered him shelter in her tent.
When asked for water, offered a bowl of milk
and an blanket assuring him he could sleep and she would keep watch.
Ja'el then planted a tent stake so firmly through Sisera's head it went into the ground.

    Previously discussed.

The Bible was originally written in Latin. There are no ancient Greek versions.

..i was reminded of the deception in the world, and the deceiving power of the enemy.

Rom 1:18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
24Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever

..futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened..

The deadly serious battle, for the souls of men.. very tragic, that so many are unwitting dupes, in a battle they know nothing about..

they exchanged the truth of God for a lie..

"She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous."

I've been told that the Bible, although translated into over a hundred languages, was the word of God.

Israel wasn't created until 1948. Someone please tell me what I'm missing?

..the bible clearly teaches a climax.. a conclusion and end of this age, and a new age of God's Administration. When will that happen? We don't know. We have the signs of the times, but that is not definitive.

But the choice before every human being remains:

Will you acknowledge your Creator, and be reconciled to Him?

    ..or,

Will you continue in defiance, alienated from God?

A Judgement is coming.. in this life or the next. Ignoring & reviling God, or pretending that this world will continue unaccountable is madness and folly.

Of course not. The vulgate came centuries later.. it was, in reality, another translation, from the original Greek and Aramaic manuscripts.

Doesn't anyone source their information? I know there is a hell bent desire to malign, dispute, disparage, and distort the biblical manuscripts, but it has a factual history that has MILLENNIA of precedence, that cannot be glibly rewritten by hostile enemies with an agenda.
