He quoted a story published today with quotes from several Republican governors reacting to the 2018 primaries.

Big victory for Trump all right. Lost by 8.6 million votes that if it wasn't for gerrymandering would have translated into the worst mid term election defeat in history.

But like their fearless leader, trumpians believe a win is what they say it is, regardless of actual results. IN trumpland a trumpian loss is a bigly win. Afterall, perception is reality.

TIL that 1970 was 78 years ago. Who was the President in 1970 and remind me...what happened to him?

He picked up two seats when the Democrats had 26 on the chopping block...

The Blue Wave Fizzled - Trump is the big winner
As of the second week of December, your thread banner statement above, has fizzled. Trump was the big loser, with losing 40 House seats to Democrats, plus nearly 400 Republican seats to Democrats in state legislatures across the nation, plus having Democrats gain back enough governors to raise them to almost 50% again. It was a Blue Wave, but one that came in slowly to shore. Hopefully, it'll still be coming in 2020. :)

No. Republicans have had control of all three branches. It's our turn.

It was an interesting result, Dems gained 39 seats and control of the Congress but there was no Blue Wave, anti-Trump hysteria didn't translate into votes, rather the Kavanaugh effect fired up the Republican base (in fact the whole Kavanaugh nomination furore probably justified people voting for Trump in the first place, this 'Demicraziness' is what they were voting against). To put it in perspective Bill lost 54 seats at the same stage and Barack 63 (his 'shellacking'). Hence the GOP actually increased their hold in the senate making Trump all but unimpeachable and securing his right to appoint SC judges as he pleases. So the GOP have the presidency, the senate and the supreme court. Dems should look at this and start moving back to the centre asap.

Conservatives may possibly have control over the Supreme Court. But Trump and the current Republican party are definitly not Conservative.

They could show the American people?.....Lets say staring with tax returns? Who has loaned money to the president?
    Sounds like a great start!

To put it into perspective, Blue gained the most midterm seats since watergate.

The blue wave, though not a tsunami, led to an interesting result, Dems gaining 40 seats and control of the House.

    Anti-Trump sentiment translated into votes,

I wonder how many more seats the Dems could have if the Republicans hadn't gerrymandered all those districts in their states. It is a good bet the more patriotic party could have won at least 10 more seats.

And yet it still fell short, the message the Dems should take from this is that 'Demicraziness' will never bring them victory, they have to move back to the centre and curb the excesses of their more left wing supporters. They have to have a positive message, not simply oppose a single individual.

Your sour grapes just won't ferment into an acceptable retort, Reasonablerob.

Trump and the Senate got slapped onto to their back feet by the House this week, rightfully so.

To what end? Trump is now opposed by the Congress but that's nothing previous Presidents didn't have, the GOP still control the Senate, Presidency and increasingly the SC.

Having a huge swing towards them as the GOP experienced under Bill and Barrack and actually losing seats in the Senate due to the Kavanaugh effect. Dems have got to stop thinking that the extreme hatred of the minority for an individual is preferable to moving back to the centre and reconnecting with the majority.

It certainly wasn't a "blue wave fizzle" in California; just ask stunned Republicans in Orange County.
