Who said California is a horrible place? I would actually say it is an exceptional place.

The saying references the notion that California is progressive and that they predict the future for the country. They are very often pursuing policies which were rejected by the majority of the country at that time, but later became the normal and more widely accepted - like abortion, gay marriage, and weed legalization.

Yes, that's well put but in voting terms? California has voted solidly democrat since 1992 yet we've had 3 GOP election victories in that time. By contrast Florida has called it right 5 times in a row, George Wx2, Barackx2 and Trump?

It's not "huh" but rather "duh". But, of-course, we know Republicans digest reality in small bites.

He endorsed ~75 candidates. Of those, about 30% won.

Repubs lost the house because the house did not strongly support trump

Its a wonder that the washington swamp rats didnt lose the senate too becaue they are even more “RINO” than most house members were

Perhaps you might want to read the LAT article on how badly Republicans were beaten in California as a direct result of Trump disgust.

If you were the coach of a losing team they would have fired your butt long ago. Only impotent Republicans seek excuses. Another "duh".

What a terrible ****ing argument. Trump has a 55+% disapproval rating - nationally.

The people who lost did so explicitly because Trump's disapproval rating was even HIGHER in their districts. Seriously, it is syncophants like yourself that are the reason trump has refused to expand his base. There was a simple ****ing lesson from 2018 - Trump's base is not enough.

"The smart thing for the California Republican Party to do would be to stop living in denial and accept the costly lesson: To survive in competitive California congressional districts, a GOP candidate must stay as far away from Trump as possible." https://www.latimes.com/politics/la...essional-seats-california-20190117-story.html

Now down to only 7 congressional seats out of a total of 53 in California; the most populous state in America, Republicans foolishly make excuses for Trump. That was a loss of 7 congressional districts w/ a good chance that the next election will totally wipe out all Republicans in California. Oh well.

It is an opinion based solely on your decidedly warped view of the world and little else.

In today's world you make no sense but what else does one expect from Republicans? Nothing. Just like the number of people willing to vote for Republicans. Nobody in California.

When I’m faced with a choice between a republican who is deeply flawed and only 50% of what I expect or a democrat who is 100% wrong on every issue I hold my nose and vote repub

Well, I appreciate your honesty but the premise of this thread is that the 2018 election was a "fizzle" for Democrats when that was most assuredly an incorrect assessment. I have offered reports/ articles on how the Republican party is on life support not only in California but also several other Western states as a direct result of Trump. Republicans will come to cursing what Trump has put them and the nation through. Republican anger with Trump meant voting for Democrats in places like Orange county, a county with more people than many states.

    It was not a fizzle

Winning control of the house is an accomplishment

Bit as I said much of the credit belongs to finger-wetting RINO’s who failed to fully support trump when they were in charge
