I was a NRA member. In the early 70s, they attacked a gun bill with nauseating propaganda and vicious political attacks.

    I quit.

The NRA has been repulsive and amoral for as long as I can remember. It's always had extremists running the show..

Similarly, Republicans used to support abortion. Another type of extremist figured out the public would never support their insanity, but they could create support indirectly by demonising abortion. Look at other developed countries, you don't see it. You've been suckered.

Thank you for showing me that you are full of crap.

Kindly tell us this "early 1970's gun bill" that was so attacked by the NRA. And how does one exactly lay "political attacks" against a bill?

But to put things into prospective the only "Gun Bill" of note prior to the date you claim was the Gun Control Act of 1968. And as that is before the 1970s, you are obviously not talking about that bill.

Actually, 60 Minutes placed the 300 page bill in front of the president of the NRA and asked to be shown where it says cops would have all their guns taken away.

While this was a big controversy, at the time, I did a brief search and came up with nothing.

One last thing, my college roommate came back from Xmas vacation and started ranting about the bill, that's how I found out about it.

Anyway, I may do another search later, but news in recent years supports my opinion of the NRA, a lot.

In other words, even you can't prove what you claim is real.

In fact, this entire claim of yours makes no sense at all. The timing is completely wrong, as is everything else.

The NRA has always been primarily a teaching organization; they have worked with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts since at least the 1930's in setting up safety courses and providing targets and guidance on setting up ranges for both archery and rifles, according to age groups. A lot of city kids would never have received any firearms safety training without Scouting and NRA help. I have contributed to some of their legislative campaigns, but have never personally been a member but I know plenty who are, and they aren't even close to how these left wing nutjobs are ordered to portray them, and many of them were yellow dog Democrats before the 1980's and the Party shut out labor and small business to become the elitist whack job asylum it is now via its 'super delegate' scam..
