    Nothing good can come about from the election of Kavanaugh because it brings to the fore the question of separation of powers. Upon which any true democracy is based, judged and functions. When all three components of national governance (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) are fused into one political control of all three, then a democracy becomes a dictatorship.

    Can't happen in America? Watch this space ...

    Nothing bad can come from the Kavanaugh appointment. Kavanaugh will now be an even stronger advocate for the individual against extraconstitutional government. There is now very little possibility that Kavanaugh will be neutral or unbiased. Kavanaugh is now securely on the side of the individual against extraconstitutional government.

    Article is bull. But I especially liked this line though----"A public loss of faith in the courts as they become weaponized in the service of a particular agenda is a hallmark of authoritarian and illiberal regimes."

    This is humorous because the Left weaponized the FBI in the service of a particular agenda---- spreading the Russian collusion lie and that CERTAINLY is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes.

    They object almost entirely because they long ago they've had the courts as their weapon of last resort for most of the last 80 years. They object because that weapon is now no longer theirs to wield.

    After what happened, no one could be a stronger advocate for the rights of the accused and the protections guaranteed by the Constitution than Brett Kavanaugh.

    It showed the lengths the Democrats will go to defame a good man with a spotess record. They only could attack his adolescence with unsubstantiated stories in which the accusers story had too many holes to be credible.

    It showed gutter politics at it’s worst! Democrats should be embarrassed

    I believe it can happen in America. But it won't last. The Supreme Court has lost all credibility now. It will be under the microscope the next few years. It won't be long until we know how long it will take to recover it. If the Supreme Court keeps undoing accomplishments like Obamacare, Civil Rights Act, Women's rights, ... the backlash will be painful, but necessary.

    You are forgetting that cases like Roe v. Wade were decided by the very things you are now complaining about don't you?

    What you are essentially saying is that its ok if the liberal justices act like this but when conservative justices do then its a bad thing.

    How hypocritical of you.

    If you read the dissenting opinion in Roe v. Wade you will see just how extremely political that whole case was. They shouldn't even have taken the case because it was that flawed but they did out of pure partisanship to change the nature of our nation.

    So back at ya.

    This is what scares the pants off the Democrats. It is as you say, the SC can now stand up for the bulk of citizens and stop favoring a few to the detriment of the majority.

    Since Roe v Wade daily confronts the loss of human life, the court should have listened to Justice Rhenquist. Rhenquist mocked the idea that taking life is private.

    They'll face that question when and if Robert Mueller ever gets to his report. If there's been one thankful thing about Kavanaugh-gate, it has almost made the disgrace that is Robert Mueller disappear.

    The Supreme Court didn't 'undo' Obamacare, it forced it down the nation's throat. And it wasn't an accomplishment, it gave you Donald Trump to begin with. As for the politicization of the court, which started well before Trump(FDR). It's the reason I want to abolish the supreme court to begin with. It was an extra(unnecessary) branch of 'government', where political solutions and political solutions alone should govern the nation.

    "9 men in black robes shouldn't decide cases"-Justice Scalia. I'll give him credit for being philosophically sound, even if it meant undermining his own institution.

    Except the Republican party represents about 25-35% of the citizens of the US, so really the SCOTUS as well as the other two branches of government are just protecting the desires of an aging plurality. It's going to be a setback for certain, but it won't be a permanent problem.

    I do not see issues that help republicans as harming others. I do see issues helping Democrats as harming a huge number of citizens.
