Provide specific policies and taxes that do as you say. Taxes are necessary for organized society to function. You need to supply evidence that they are doing more harm than good.

Mom and pop stores have never been major contributors of jobs. By their definition they tend to be family operations.

So you think walmart has been around since 1776? And 90% of McDonald's is mom and pop owned.

McDonald's restaurants can be found in more than 100 countries around the globe. More than 90% of our restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent Franchisees. Owning a McDonald's restaurant is a tremendous opportunity.

Uhm by your own words high rent/ high cost of living?

For example a pack of smokes in south Carolina is $4 bucks a pack in some place in Illinois $12 bucks a pack.

You’re coming up with absolutely absurd conclusions from my posts. This discussion is going nowhere.

Far more things than taxes impact the cost of living. A blanketed “Left=Bad” argument holds little water.

Here are just a few options, thought up in the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea:

*Don't live in place where the housing is 50% of your income (becauase clearly, you can't afford it)
*If you must live in a place where housing is 50% of your income, make darned sure that several families or an equal number of friends are sharing a single premises, sharing expenses, and pooling resources.
*Save every single cent not spent on housing, transport, rice, and beans.
*Give up every self-indulgent habit you have to achieve those 'spare cents saved'. Give up fast food, meat, cheese, alcohol, cigs, new clothes, air conditioning, holidays, processed and convenience foods, hair stylists, fake nails, tattoos, big tvs, iphones, etc etc et.

I'll ask again, who is trapping people?

They can't screw us unless we give them permission to do so. Whenever we buy their products, we are approving their mission.

Who do you suppose will work jobs in the areas that don’t pay enough to purchase transport, let alone live near their jobs?
I guess anything is affordable if you’re willing to give up all joy in life.

Luckily, people in First World capitalist democracies can live wherever they want. Or wherever they can afford.

Are you pretending to be oblivious to my second (and equally important) point? Go back and read it again.

And all my subsequent points? You going to pretend you didn't see them either?

At not one single point have I addressed the question of what should be done. I am here to hold feet to fire. The feet of people who claim they want an increase because it means poor people will spend more. I'm going to keep holding those feet to the fire, too.

Not who, what. High cost of living + low wages + little to no free time/spending free time exhausted from physically demanding work = Neigh impossible to create your own business from the ground up as the other poster suggested.
You’ve still yet to mention from where you draw your experience.

I addressed them. Your solution, devised while sipping your tea was that people should live in tight living spaces and give up anything that might bring them joy. And you somehow think that a tenable solution for those living in abject poverty. I saw your points. They’re just garbage.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...four-reasons-california-is-unsustainable/amp/

In other words, that $1.3 trillion in debt is the amount to which California governments admit. Other studies believe it to be more. Indeed, one study says it is actually $2.3 trillion and a recent Hoover Institute stated that there is over $1 trillion in pension liability alone, or $76,884 per household. Incredibly, there are 4 million current pension beneficiaries, a number that continues to grow and which exceeds the total population of 22 states.

The world and economies are ever changing. Adapt and thrive, or sit at home complaining that your 1995 methods don't work anymore, so the world needs to fix itself.

The cost of a degree is still incredibly good value actually - as long as you have better cognition than a 12 year old, and grasp that modest means obviate outrageously expensive Arts/Humanities/Social Science type degrees - which are outrageously expensive because they don't lead directly to well paid full-time work.

So aim to offer no solutions, by your own admission, just attack those seeking to do something. I’ve heard enough. You’re dismissed.

And there it is. The poor can stay poor by spending all their money, so other people can get rich.

That’s a lot of words to say and yet say so little. I feel you’ve lost sight of the original discussion.
