    Hello,

is western civilization dying ? It seems first crazy to think so. The west is at the summit of his technological abilities, able to destroy the world and modify the gene of the living being.

However, the roman empire in 400 had all the reasons to be proud. The empire was never this big and century old. No civilization in this part of the world were a match for them. One century later, Rome was destroyed by the barbarian. The brother of the western roman empire lasted one century longer and died under the sword of the ottomans.

The western civilization is at the best sick, and for some of this part (France) just a walking corpse.

What are the reasons to think that the west is dying :
_ Religion are important not because believing in a god help in anyway but because the religion is the base of the social contract, the rules who rely human. Atheism is progressing, it can be a good things because it means the recoil of religious intolerance and superstition, but it means too that the cement of society is disappearing. Without a cement who unit a group, this group is sentenced to disappear.
_ The direct consequence is that a lot of countries are in full cultural nihilism and don't even want to protect themselve because their is nothing anymore to protect. Nowodays art proposed interesting claims about what can be art, but it's not constructive or structured.
_ This cultural nihilism imply that people now consider themselve only as individual, countries are as much considered as hotel. This cultural egocentrism can only lead to the implosion of societies.
_ Exogenous members of those civilization settled in this civilization. If some integrated, other are not willing to drop their custom and are much more willing to defend their own culture than the hosts.

I think that the same thing that happened in 400 will happen in the next centuries. A part of the western civilization will disappear and another part will continue to live for some time.

Eastern europe seems more willing to live that the rest of western civilization. Southern latin europe will probably fall first.

When the USA began as a country on July 4, 1776, there was immediately a death sentence hanging over it.

All things have a beginning, and must also have an ending.

What soldiers give their lives for is to postpone that ending and keep their countries for as long as it is possible -- but the ending must and will come.
