In Trump Senate Impeachment Trial (title cont'd)

    https://www.mediaite.com/politics/t...le-witness-in-trump-senate-impeachment-trial/

Like I, and many others, have repeatedly said everytime Trump or one his supporters said the Senate would be calling the whistleblower, either Biden, Adam Schiff, or whomever is the latest right wing boogeyman...its not gonna happen.

This news comes immediately after the Democrats announced the articles of impeachment and immediately after the Horowitz report destroyed Trump's conspiracy theories.

But dont worry Trump defenders! I am certain that the NEXT investigation will be the one that makes all your dreams come true.

This is BS. If the senate GOP tries to breeze through to a quick acquittal, they'll make it look like the fix was in, and will do nothing to answer Trump's guilt or innocence. If the House is going to vote for an impeachment, than the senate needs to have a full trial, not some dog and pony show.

If the charges are dismissed, there was never an impeachment from the House.

    ?

If there is a vote to impeach in the House, it doesn't go away because the Senate acquits.

I think the only way no witnesses are called is if the House does not have the votes for the articles of impeachment and I honestly think this is the most likely result.

Clinton's impeachment wasn't dismissed. That vote failed.

It does if they dismiss it.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...trump-is-unlikely-to-be-removed-idUSKBN1Y91TP

WHAT ABOUT OPENING A TRIAL AND QUICKLY ENDING IT?
The Senate rules allow members to file, before the conclusion of the trial, motions to dismiss the charges against the president. If such a motion passes by a simple majority the impeachment proceedings effectively end.

Clinton’s Senate impeachment trial, which did not end in a conviction, lasted five weeks. Halfway through the proceedings, a Democratic senator introduced a motion to dismiss, which was voted down.

So you think Horowitz destroyed the conspiracy theories? I think he destroyed the Steele dossier and the pee tape which the left to this day believe is the Holy Grail of Trump's devotion and loyalty to Putin.

The house impeachment is not removed if the senate dismisses the charges. It only means he is acquitted and is not removed from office. He remains impeached

It is not an acquittal it is a failure to do what is right and the Senate will vote to keep the guilty in the Oval Office.

If the Democrats impeach, the Senate trial should be long and painful. Every Democrat involved should be called to testify.

Only witnesses with relevant testimony can and will be called. This is a legal proceeding, and the rule of law applies. Republicans can’t and won’t be calling Biden, Schiff or any of the other dozen or so irrelevant people you guys are clamoring for.

It can if SCOTUS rules the Constitutionality of the charges is in question.

Democrats think they can impeach for any reason they'd like, but they can't.

I'd be fine if they just voted immediately and wrapped it all up in 10 minutes.

or drag it our for days , politicians like to hear themselves talk.

Wrong. The Impeachment stands. Just as it did with the Clinton impeachment.

Sure - as long as the White House honors the subpoenas that it would not honor during the House investigation.

You know that every ounce of power to evade Congressional oversight you hand to Trump stays WITH the office of President when he leaves, right? You know that you may well be handing the next Socialist President the power to ignore Congressional oversight? You understand this, right?

Pretty much the same thing that happened with the Clinton impeachment. Is what it is.
Of course, when Clinton was impeached, he wasn't running for reelection.

There is a process for that but the dem clown show is in such a hurry for media sound bites they have turned a 180 on their own principles (if they had any) and bypassed the process.
