    From Wikipedia:

The custom of allowing recognized political parties to select a slate of prospective electors developed early. In contemporary practice, each presidential-vice presidential ticket has an associated slate of potential electors. Then on Election Day, the voters select a ticket and thereby select the associated electors.[1]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Electoral_College#Electors

    The electors are elected.

See tell me Molon can you name any one of the electoral college members who elected your states choice for president???Would you suggest instead maybe we begin electing the people who actually elect the president because the American voting public certainly does not.

In most States the EC will vote for the candidate that won the popular vote in that State. So as you can see, every vote does count.

Since the voting public does not elect the president, these hand picked unknown choices of political hacks select every one of our presidents???

Our COURTS recently ruled that those appointed to the electoral college DO NOT HAVE TO VOTE THE WAY THE STATES POPULAR VOTE WENT and can no longer be removed and replaced as they once were for not voting as dictated. That court ruling renders the ELECTORAL COLLEGE null and void as they no longer have to vote the way their state did.Long past time for it to be scrapped and let the light of true democracy shine!!!!

Because rural areas are primarily more conservative. Logic says that makes sense.

No, I will not be a serf to liberal agendas simply because population centers effectively would prefer that our election system operate like the Hunger Games.

A "real democracy" would mean the people vote on every issue. Hence, we live in a representative republic where all people deserve to be represented.

One person one vote and everyone would be represented, now our vote in the presidential election means NOTHING!!!

The COURTS just ruled this year that the appointees to the Electoral College are free to vote for whomever they want, and CANNOT be replaced as they always used to be if they failed to vote for the states popular vote winner.

Rural areas deserve a say too and democrats need to realize that. Rural areas grow our crops and contribute to this country. Hell yes they deserve to be represented. It's not my fault you democrats have forgotten the working man and woman in this country. Blame yourselves for running an elitist in 2016.

A Democracy is like two wolves and a sheep voting on what they are to have for dinner. The Founders had an understanding of human nature.

RURAL AREAS get the same rights as everyone else should get, ONE person ONE vote!!!!The way we have run it up to now the tail wags the dog.Between the electoral college and the two senators per state, the minority rules. But the court ruling that electoral college members can now vote any way they want can change all that.

garyd The courts ruled that electors who are appointed NO LONGER HAVE TO VOTE FOR THEIR STATES POPULAR VOTE CHOICE, they are free to vote for whom ever of the candidates they wish and can no longer be replaced. The old rules no longer apply.

Yes, but a lot of rural areas in them. Clinton did not even bother to campaign in them. You all can keep using Russia as an excuse to why you lost the election, but Hillary lost Hillary the election.
