If electoral college doesn’t make sense, then senate doesn’t make sense as well, which would mean the federation doesn’t make sense. The states would be stripped of their statehood’s, turned into provinces and all laws would be federal. I bet people far away from Washington DC would just love that!

Electoral college makes perfect sense for people who understand what a federation is.

Well all the dems need to do is nominate a good candidate who will appeal to independent voters, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. In the debates Trump isn't going to fear any of these morons.

We are not a Democracy. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for supper. The Founding Fathers understood this, hence the EC. BTW the USA is a Federal Republic. Feel free to move to another country.

Landlocked, some nice mountains and beautiful country, but no Oceans. I am a surfer champ. I love California but I feel that I and my fellow Californians are quite under represented in the Senate and the popular vote for President. It may never change but it remains a fact that we of the greatest, most populous and most economically viable state are getting screwed by the federal government and the electoral college.

And I live in Illinois and am quite happy that you Californians slowly destroy your state without affecting mine. And yes, libs here are running wild too, especially in Chicago, but they are still pretty reasonable.
That’s the whole point of living in a federation - you get to regulate your state to death, while in Texas you can openly walk around with loaded guns and (soon) legally smoke a joint in Illinois. ;) To each their own, living happily ever after.

The Electoral College gave us Trump when the people chose Hillary. That is reason enough to abolish it right there.

Something of a tangent, but can you propose any electoral system that would prevent the lamb getting eaten? Direct democracy is far from perfect but that doesn’t mean there are any better alternatives. “Worst form of government except for all the others” as Churchill once said.

Don't weep too deeply. The democrats have an automatic, in--the-box guaranteed 55 electoral votes from California, the largest concentrated population republic in the USA.

With that and automatic NY and the northeast it shows tremendous weakness when democrats lose in presidential elections.

That’s true, but it would be more fair if we could take some of our excess millions of votes and apply them to Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. It’s also a shame that our 2 US Senators who represent over 40 million people are up against at least 10 Senators who represent half as many. I don’t think that this is what our founding fathers had in mind when they made “the great compromise” back in the early 1800s. I’m not weeping, just pointing out the obvious fact that us Californians are grossly under represented vote for vote.

The use of the Electoral college in today's age is a balance between the small states and the large states, just like the reason we adopted it.

Like most other countries, who elect the parliament who elects their leaders. That's even less direct than the Electoral College.

Your remedy is built into the Constitution. You know the constitutional hurdle you must overcome.

    That or blood revolution.

And the recent court ruling which said that the electors can vote for whichever candidate they want, and cannot be replaced because they didn't vote for their states choice. They can no longer be removed and replaced, this changes everything, since whoever appointed them cannot guarantee they'll vote the way they want.

Lately, its not doing such a good job of ensuring that the rural areas dont have tyranny over the urban areas is the point that is being made.

JQ Adams was not a republican , Democratic Republican isnt the same as Republican which ole Abe was the first Republican

So you think it was fair that Hillary won the populous states like the Democratic People's republic of California and New York, and her winning 20 states out of 50 ( Trump won 30 states) that it is fair?

This is why the E.C exists, Hillary just proved it, all a candidate has to do is campaign in populous states to win the election

The fact that you want to live in a democracy is why the E.C exists, the F.F didn't want a democracy where the popular vote determines who becomes president and judging by some of the idiotic stuff your leftist do and say it makes perfect sense why the E.C exist

By the way can you name any countries who have have successful democracies where they vote for their Political Federal leaders directly?

How can Abe be recognized as a "republican" when the Republican party didn't exist back then, It was founded in 1854 and Abraham Lincoln being the first "Republican" President after he bolted from the "whig Party"

JQ Adams was a democratic Republican, that party was formed to opposed Hamilton's "federalist" party, the Federalist party called them "democrats"

Republican back then before Abe mean "republicanism"

Tell me you understand what "republicanism" meant back then?

Or are we wasting our time?
