We were talking about Hitler. Hitler was not elected by the states. He was appointed in a republic.

They fired several electors, in states where the electors have the right to vote their conscience, and not follow the popular vote, because they refused to vote for Trump. and were going to vote for John kasich instead. The Republican legislatures in those states removed them and replaced them with electors who would vote for Trump. That is what I am talking about. If the states are going to allow electors to not follow the popular vote, there should be required to allow them to do that, and shouldn't be allowed to removean elector simply because they don't like who they plan on voting for. And many of the ones who were removed were removed just a week or so before the actual vote. There should defintely be a cut off deadline for any changes to the EC.

Traditionally, states have had the right to determine whether or not their own electors were allowed to "vote their conscience" or be bound by the populr vote. 27 states have laws which allow them to vote agaijnst the popular vote. The real issue is that in many cases, the state don't actually allow such votes. The case that went to the the 10th circuit earlier this year was over Oregon, who have laws allowing their electors to go against the popular vote illegally removed electors who refused to vote for Clinton.

Republicans also removed sever electors (all of whom represented states with such laws) who refused to vote for Trump.

The court ruling was that the state can not remove an elector for following their states laws. That if the state allows them to vote their conscience, the state can not then remove them as electors for doing so.

If a SINGLE illegal is voting in your elections then the PAID poll workers are not performing their job and verifying the LEGAL VOTER REGISTRATION of each and every potential voter prior to allowing them access to the voting booth.

It was Colorado and the electors were Clinton electors. Which Republican electors were removed, what state?

Appeals court says Colorado electors don't have to vote for winner of state's popular vote

A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday evening that Colorado’s presidential electors do not have to back the candidate who wins the state’s popular vote.

The decision could have significant consequences for future presidential contests and is likely headed to the Supreme Court.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver ruled in a 2-1 decision against the Colorado secretary of state in a case stemming from the 2016 presidential race.

At the time, three of the Centennial State’s nine electors tried to vote for candidates other than Democrat Hillary Clinton, who had won the state’s popular vote.

    https://thehill.com/regulation/cour...idential-electors-in-co-dont-have-to-vote-for

Should go to SCOTUS and hopefully retain the States right to appoint and qualify their electors as they see fit.

"Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,.........."
"The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. "

No where does it say the Legislature can't appoint them for a specific person that that state wants, through an election or legislative appointment, to vote for.

So the appeals court literally ruled that the states do not have to follow their own laws.

No where does the Constitution say the electors have this ability to not vote as the state legislature may direct.

The states in questioned passed laws which give their electors the right to vote their conscience. The original ruling by the court was that those states have to follow that law, and can't remove an elector simply because they don't lke who they voted for.

    Try again

"Baca and Nemanich in December filed a federal lawsuit challenging a Colorado state law that requires presidential electors to vote for the winner of the popular vote, saying that the founders intended for electors to be able to vote their conscience."

Now name the Republicans you keeping claiming were replaced.

Since there are a very few relatively speaking(over 500)members of the electoral college, what is to stop a very fat cat political presidential candidate secretly offering every one of them lets say $100,000 each to buy their vote????

Get back to us when that happens. But the answer is about the same as offering every voter free college. Vote buying is vote buying.
