Excuse me, your the one who cant figure out all states start off with 3... 2 for state rights 1 for peoples rights
What reality? If Yellowstone blew and Wyoming landed on Minnesota's, do you think Minnesota would get Wyomings three votes?
Tyranny is the outcome that occurs mostly where there is voting insufficiency. It takes a collusion at the top to assure that only certain candidates are indeed "elected". Meaning that the vote is somehow falsified. Which, in fact, is not much different from the way we elect presidents nowadays - when the loser of the popular-vote is nonetheless the winner of the EC-vote* .... *Nonetheless, I suspect (and hope!) that Americans have understood what the outcome can be if they chose to vote under the present system which is faulty.
In a pure democracy, where all things are decided by a simple majority, you can end up with all kinds of mischief. We are by far better off with checks and balances that dilute the whims of a simple majority.
Yes, that is quite true. It is damn easy to manipulate a population that does not want to learn/understand the factual evidence. They'd rather be elsewhere "amusing themselves". Which is EXACTLY what happened once-upon-a-time long, long ago. To Rome* and what's left except the ruins ... *Don't get me wrong. Historians are showing today how the Romans were very, very good engineers. The invented "cement" which accelerated their building of large constructions. Aqueducts that moved water to central towns from sources often hundreds of miles away all across what was called the Roman Empire. Don't forget historical perspectives, people! They teach us a lot!
If what you mean by "pure democracy" what is happening in the European Union, then take note! No Gerrymandering! No Electoral Colleges! And yet it has a Parliament that functions well enough in Strasbourg. (No, it's Executive leadership is not yet elective - the countries decide who is the head of the EU Commission in Brussels. Otoh, that person cannot decide single-mindedly to expand the EU-budget according to his/her whimsy. The member-states decide the EU-budget - which is spent very largely throughout the EU to help along those countries needing it most.)
The mischief occurs because some people - elected from the states - like "their jobs in DC" and decide to do it forever. For instance, the current Senate leaders are Mitch McConnell (R) from Kentucky and Chuck Schumer (D) from New York. McConnell is from the wilds of Kentucky who has been in the Senate since he was first elected in 1984 and has been re-elected five times since. Dem or Replicant, guys like this MANIPULATE politics far worse than any non-elected dictator! The US merits a "dynamic republic", not one ossified by people hanging around Washington far too long - whether they are elected or non-elected. We can break the chains that allow them to sit forever in DC by an election-rule that a term lasts twice and that's all. They can get reelected in a future election but not a third one in succession ...
I just don’t understand why you can’t address what I actually say, instead of what you make up and pretend I said.
