The far right supports free speech...but wants to make homosexuality and pornography illegal.

Youtuber Sargon of Akkad recently made a video called "8 questions for the alt-right" where he asked alt-righters questions on their support (or lack thereof) for personal freedoms.

There have been very few answers from major outlets, so I'll focus on the one I found...from the Daily Stormer.

This is obviously NSFW so I'll quote the parts that bother me...

The far right, since its free speech in threatened by Internet censorship, tries to pose itself as the big defenders of free speech. Which explains the first quote. However, many people who try to present themselves as heroes of free speech only want free speech for themselves...just so that they can later restrict the free speech of others once they're in power. Liberals in the past were big defenders of "personal freedoms"...and we can all see where that ended once they were in power. The far right seems to be the exact equivalent.

- Making homosexuality illegal would mean making any expression of being gay a punishable offence. Gay pride parades would be treated like serial killer pride parades. Homosexuals would be totally deprived of their free speech.

- Making pornography illegal would completely forbid a form of expression. The only way to defend forbidding porn would be to argue that not all forms of speech should be protected, which is exactly what the anti-free speech crowd says constantly.

Maybe some people would argue that pedophiles already don't have their free speech right now, so there's nothing wrong with doing the same for homosexuals. But that's a false equivalence. Pedophilia is a clear crime since there is a victim. While homosexuality and pornography would be victimless "crimes".

At the end of the day the only rationale for forbidding these things would be that the far right doesn't like them.

So that logic opens the door to the far right forbidding any speech they disagree with.

I'd also add that I've seen other far right movements want to ban anti-white hate speech, "degenerate art", "negro music", and a lot of other stuff they don't like. It's really not an isolated thing. Just look at the programs of groups like Nordfront, Golden Dawn etc.

This thread is mainly aimed at a debate with far righters. There is no point for liberals to chime in since I doubt they can add anything.

So? How can you fight the "liberal globalist tyranny" that stifles your free speech, only to want to seize power and install a tyranny of your own?

 

You may have mistaken this for the actual liberal agenda and policies.

Have you even noted that the liberal left wants to ban free speech from those that disagree with their agenda, restricting the rights of those in opposition of them to not be able to speak their views in public?

Free speech works both ways, not just in favor of one side or the other.

 

The left supports the 2nd amendment and the right to keep and bear arms, but wants to ban 'assault weapons', get rid of concealed carry, force gun owners to get a license to own a gun, force gun owners to register their guns with the state, force gun owners to buy liability insurance....

 

This post is so ignorant - consider pornography - it appeals to the basest instincts a man possesses - especially young men and teenagers - while turning off the vast majority of women. There is no free speech argument involved in porno of any kind - it is anathema

Oh I agree. The Democrats want to censor any speech that they don't like. It's been said to death so I don't see the point of repeating it.

But the point of this thread was that far right authoritarians are exactly the same as SJW's.
