I need help from a fellow leftist with computer skills. I'm totally over my head on a computer and I don't know how to post web sites (or whatever the term is). I need a friendly person to google (first bill signed by trump as president). You will see where trump signed his first bill on 2-28-17. It will be under 'trump, guns and mental illness'. I need that info stated on this forum so it will be the source of my following comment.

This man (trump) hated Obama so much that the first bill he signed revoked a regulatory initiative signed by Obama making it more difficult for people with mental illnesses to buy guns. Thanks to trumps signing on 2-28-17 he made it easier for mentally ill people to purchase guns. That should make the trumpmeisters proud.

Trump Signs Bill Revoking Obama-Era Gun Checks for People With Mental Illnesses

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

President Barack Obama recommended the now-nullified regulation in a 2013 memo following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 20 first graders and six others dead. The measure sought to block some people with severe mental health problems from buying guns.

The original rule was hotly contested by gun rights advocates who said it infringed on Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

The obama rule was strongly opposed by the leftwing ACLU as well as the NRA

Obama cheated and used his executive power and a stoke of the pen

Trump used the legeslative process to sign a bill supported by the people

The Obama bill opened the door to government buerocrats deciding who was and wasn't mentally I'll. It was the camel's nose under the tent and eventually could be used to deny gun ownership to anyone the left deemed mentally ill.

Due process, not important to Obama and why the bill was revoked.

Yeah, due process is more important than trying to save lives.

Obviously, all these shootings are - if either party's fault - the fault of the Republicans. It is they who are in the NRA's pocket and it is they who continue to balk at the slightest restrictions to whacko's getting permits to own firearms.

It is not directly their fault as they did not pull the trigger. But they made it far, FAR easier for these sickos to kill these hundreds and hundreds of innocent people over the last few years.

Don't bother denying it - I will not waste my time reading your denials...almost everyone knows how ridiculous many of you gun-fanatics can be about this subject.

Well, how about some government entity reviewing posts here on PF. How about they decide that the words of some posters must indicate they are mentally ill, and they go about taking action to identify the poster, and then arbitrarily start removing that persons constitutional rights.

    That work for you?

I wouldn't have a hard time with it. At least it would be doing something which is a lot more than the republicans are doing.

Unless you are a brown person suspected of terrorism, then it’s “No due process for you! Off to Gitmo and torture!”

Really? Wow, I'll try not to assume such an anti-constitutional sentiment is shared by many others.

How about people stop trying to defend the elephant in the room, and start looking into the impact of social media, the internet, etc., on causing such people to turn to guns as a solution?

Columbine was in 1999. That is constantly used as the ground zero for these tragedies. Why was it so rare before that? Guns were certainly easier to obtain back then.

Any US citizens held there had their day in court
