    When I first heard there were people in his century that claimed the Earth was flat, I couldn't believe it. Then I discovered there are about a billion youtube videos supporting it!!

    I made a few of my own arguing against that, but today I feel 99% of the FE crowd are just trolls. It's the only plausible explanation. ;)

    About 25 years ago I was doing research on strange groups around the US (this was before the internet was widely available, so everything was by mail or phone.) I got a membership kit for the Flat Earth society. The only way one can become a member is to truly believe the Earth is flat. You can lie, and say you believe and pay the fee, but that makes you an invalid member. It is like a cult. I never really dealt with them, so I don't know many there were or how effective they were. The internet has changed much, including allowing groups like this to become more prominent and active.

    They are mainly trolls, with a few true believers. I say this having been a Flat Earth troll in high school for about a month. My friends and I thought it would be funny to pretend to be Flat earthers. It was pre-internet trolling. (and followed our communist phase).
