Do you honestly believe the rejection of a gay wedding cake was directed specifically at the homosexual? Or was it the ceremony? Be honest.

You're right.... globally, it's straight sex that dominates in terms of infection rates if you bring Africa into the equation. In other more tolerant countries, HIV rates are a fraction of what they are here in the USA. All of which still dwarfs the violence we have sen throughout history and into today backed by some religion or other. This, of coure, doesn't mean religion is bad... I wouldn't be so short-sighted to generalize like that. I'll leave that to the people who like to talk down to homosexuals.

Oh so judging by generalization of anecdotal experience/events or based on personal "feelings" is properly Christian?

Why is it that when it comes to the outrageously outmoded "laws" of the old testament, Christians claim that they no longer apply because Jesus coming fulfilled the covenant, yet that argument doesn't apply to homosexuality. I call that religious hypocrisy at its most stark.

I stand corrected. I confess I am not much of a student of the bible, being an agnostic atheist and all.

and I am pretty sure somewhere in that document is language that says something about equal rights for all citizens.

Interesting when the persecuted rise up and demand equal rights, they somehow are transformed into persecutors themselves. Like I said, it isn't just gays that are advocating for their equal rights. Its freedom loving fair minded Americans as well.

I find it hard to understand how many conservative "patriots" seem to feel their right to discriminate on religious grounds is perfectly acceptable. Apparently they interpret the constitution like they do the bible - what ever suits their perspective and disposition.

You understand by definition that is bigotry right? I mean the idea that a group shouldn't have access to the same as other causes people to petition for that access. If that makes you unhappy then it is about you. Gay people are just looking not to be treated as second class citizens. If that bothers you you should ask yourself why?

How exactly is that right enforces?

that is just a pile of garbage.

So gays wanting to be recognized as full citizens makes heterosexuals irresponsible? Wow

My dad died when I was a kid and I was raised by my immigrant mother. I am considered a leader in my community, I have advanced degrees, I make a good living and the only time the law was interested in me was when I protested unfair actions by the government. So..........

Since gay rights = special rights, gays want to be treated as upper caste.

Well, I am not sure what they fought for, but in the end they have got special rights. I hope you are not going to deny existence of Affirmative Actions.
I do not see any reason gays should get special treatment.

Imagine that. The religious attack on homosexuals is also dangerous, as well as nonsensical, assholish, and based on nothing biblical.

I just can't imagine why homosexuals would prefer not to be attacked by religious people deranged enough to say things like how they are the downfall of society as the esteemed and wise Kirk Cameron did.

Clearly gay people are to blame here. It's preposterous that they don't want to be insulted and some choose to respond in kind. Outrageous!

I have known several gays who are very religious... You do realize the church welcomes sinners.. at least Jesus did.

how can Christians expect to teach and preach to sinners, and save their souls, if they reject and hate them and treat them like dirt?

Then we agree that hate crime laws are redundant and special laws for certain groups of people. Thank you.

    - - - Updated - - -

What are hate crime laws about then?

You can disagree all you want. Doesn't make you correct though.

    http://www.adl.org/assets/pdf/combating-hate/Introduction-to-Hate-Crime-Laws.pdf

What are hate crime laws? State hate crime laws impose tougher penalties on criminals who target their victims because of thevictim’s race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. So, if a criminalassaults a person because that person is Jewish, the crime would likely be a hate crime.

they are carved out for all racial, religious, ethnic, national, gender groups.

    and also for the elderly.

a white christian heterosexual can be a victim of a hate crime

    Nope. Only these....................

"What are hate crime laws? Those who attack the white guy who is targeted for no specific reason has a better chance of getting less jail time.
