I want to say it was because the kid had the unfortunate luck to be named CHRISTIAN, but it appears that he was unreasonably discriminated against simply because it went against his moral integrity. Because it was of "a comment he made during his interview", his 1st Amendment rights were clearly violated and he should have pressed the matter further. Sorry folks, but the Job Corps ain't the friggin' U.S. military. Just because the Gay Mafia forced the military to tolerate gays or else, doesn't mean that it should apply to a civilian operation, federal job training program or not. Because this discrimination adversely affected the performance of the applicant or employee, this kid should not have been denied his application and a lawsuit should have been filed against the Job Corps.

    by Abby Hancock Channel 2 News 8:10 p.m. AKDT, August 10, 2012

    Anchorage, Alaska—

For years, Job Corps of Alaska has educated and trained youth, helping them transition into the work force. Like many Alaskans, the program caught the eye of 18 year-old Christian Kaz, who applied last December.

"I was very, very hopeful. I was calling everyday, saying I wanted to be in Job Corps," Christian said.

On Thursday, he heard back from Job Corps about his application. It was rejected, and Christian claims Job Corps told him that was because of a comment he made during his interview. When he was asked if he would be okay with sharing a dorm room with other students, Christian says he told the interviewer he would feel uncomfortable if he had a roommate that was gay.

"I'm not a hater, I'm not. I'm just uncomfortable with the situation," Christian said.

A staff member at the Palmer Job Corps center tells Channel 2 that Christian's comment raised a "red flag" and his application was "screened out." She said Job Corps does not ask applicants about their sexual orientation and cannot make special housing accommodations. Deanne Amaden, Job Corps' regional director of public affairs based out of San Francisco sent a statement Friday, which reads:

"The Job Corps program is a federal job training program, and as such serves a diverse population. We encourage anyone interested in Job Corps to contact the admissions office to learn more about Job Corps, and to explore the training and housing options available."

The Palmer Job Corps staffer says she told Christian to apply again without mentioning his concerns about the dorm living situation. But Christian says after everything that happened, he does not plan to.

"The way that I feel their opinion is, is that I have to keep mine to myself. I'm kind of offended so I don't think that i will be applying," Christian said.

The statement from Amaden also said that if someone is denied admission, they have the right to appeal that decision. Job Corps' admission requirements state that the applicant must appear willing to live in a multi-cultural environment, including living and working with members of various races, ethnic backgrounds, political and religious affiliations, and sexual orientations.

A woman can, rightly, refuse a male room mate.
What's the difference between that and a man refusing a gay male room mate?

    Answer - None.

Except in Job Corps the dorms are separated so your scenario would never fly.

So the gay dorms should therefore be separated from the straight ones, right?

Does he know who funds Job Corps? Government welfare, and who supports government welfare? Liberals, homosexuals included.

So he cannot get assistance from a government charity that sponsors welfare, then expect he has rights not to sleep with a homosexual.

Job Corp is under no obligation to make special arrangements because he feels uncomfortable around gay people.

If it is too much for him to handle then he doesn't get to use the free services provided to him by the tax payers.

No one needs to cater to him because of his insecurities.

It flies even better since the libs do not try to force women the sleep with men but do force men to sleep with homosexuals.

This is what you get by trying to be nice to perverts.

I'll bet you actually thought that made sense. Irony is your avatar while calling me a bigot. It actually takes effort to be that big of a hack.

Well, according to the guy he is not willing to live within the prescribed conditions. If you are unwilling to conform to the requirements of the job, then why should I feel sorry for him?

If he just has to live in a dorm then he's a whiner and should have sucked it up. If he has to share a room, then he has a legitimate grievance. I would not want to share a room with a straight guy.

    Unfortunate luck?

Unlike being gay, being a hate filled bigoted christian is a CHOICE.

The Job Corps is a private organization. If the Boys Socuts have the right to be bigots, so does the Job Corps.

Sucks when the discrimination is on the other foot eh?

Discrimination always sucks. It should be on no one's feet. That's the problem with collectivism. Instead of being free and individual humans we're: men, women, white, black, gay, straight, etc.

I do not believe it is a private organization. My understanding is it is administered by the US government.

One thing I've never understood was if a man does not wish to room with a woman or someone that is attracted to men why is that a problem?

I don't have a problem if someone likes to sleep with other men. But I wouldn't want to share a room with them. Just like I have female friends who I like a lot. I would not want to be roommates with them.

See it actually makes sense but it does require some thought. Your indignation to the rights of straight men parodies the lack of rights the 50s gave to women.

    Thanks for playing.

All laws discriminate. Do they all suck?

Does that apply to everyone? Careful here.

    90% of them do, yes.

Does saying we should care about individuals always apply? Yes.

    Based on what?

And since you admit some laws don't suck and do discriminate because thats the nature of all laws your blanket statement about discrimination makes zero sense and was only said to make you feel better not for accuracy.

So pedos are included? After all don't they deserve to be "free and individual humans"?

Its poorly thought out BS blanket feel good statements that define liberalism.
