Penis flatners, bees with teeth, giant butt spiders, giant flying shrimp, kicking puppies into the sun, and a hot blonde with an over-amped sex drive, this satirical exploration of life after death is one of the most creative series I've seen in recent years. When you die you go to the good place or the bad place. But there is a problem. And this leads to the subplot, an exploration of classical philosophy and ethics...while monkeys in Hawaiian shirts drive go carts and angry giraffes stampede the town. Oh, and beware the place in between. The woman there masturbates a lot. With Ted Danson, from Cheers. Running now on Netflix
Funny, I like Danson in this. But I agree that it is very well written. Do you have a favorite character? I think they are all quite good. Jason gets on my nerves a bit, even as tongue-in-cheek that is overplayed a bit, but that's about it. LOL! I can't pick. I love all the characters. But I was really hoping to see the ladies in bikinis. Grrrrr!
Anything with Kirstin Bell is good. The shows well done just kinda stupid for me It's a big hit though so hats off to them.
The book The Good Place and Philosophy is filled with fascinating discussions of this show by various academics.
Omg I once binge watched this entire show in like 3 days. I didn't intend to but I just kept playing the next episode last summer under lockdown in 2020. At one point I felt consumed because all I wanted to do was finish it, even though I was captivated and kept coming back for more.
I liked that judge character, Judge Gen (portrayed by Maya Rudolph) and her little parody when she sang 'I'm gonna destroy the Earth' to the tune of 'Ring My Bell' after Disco Janice, or when she complained about her dose of life and her guessing that she was black and deducing that Earth doesn't like black ladies when she wanted to prove how easy it was to make good decisions.
