And you are very welcome to your opinion. If you have data (from a reliable scientific source) that supports your assertion, I'd be only too happy to entertain it. But without it, you and I are just sharing our opinions. You happen to feel that mine are irrational - have at it.

Heart disease, cancer, and pneumonia are a large portion of that... The point is that people are actually dying from other causes, not from covid...

Logic is not "my opinion"... You are being irrational, and until you clear your paradox, there is nowhere for this conversation to go...

What caused the 350,000 increase in deaths from "Heart disease, cancer, and pneumonia" compared to 2019?

Not likely . . . since most of these deaths were outside of flu season and no flu strain has been identified that would be so much more deadly than the typical flu season.

I don't know about other people's experience but it was a lot harder to get the flu shot this year. People were saying that the flu vaccine may reduced covid risk so demand for this year's vaccine was much higher. Added was the fact that many people had to work from home when they could normally have the vaccine administer at work.

I purposely did not bother with the flu shot this year. I will not be getting any covid jab either...

Those deaths were not caused by flu nor covid... They were caused by heart disease, cancer, pneumonia, stroke, liver disease, kidney disease, etc...

Then they would be in-line with what we've seen from those diseases for previous years. They aren't. And all of these things are either caused by COVID or are COVID complications.

I never used to get the flu shot either. I can't remember the last time I had the flu so never bothered until a few years ago. I do plan on getting the covid shot when it is available but I am sure I will be way down the waiting list.

    Yes, they are.

No, they aren't... COVID is a respiratory illness. It does not cause heart disease, cancer, stroke, etc... It CAN lead to pneumonia though, which DOES kill, but if caught early enough, pneumonia is quite treatable with antibiotics...

I'm not getting either jab, nor will I ever get another flu shot ever again (I only did so for the two years prior to this one anyway), and I've only had the flu like once in the last ten plus years maybe...

The "deaths by covid"... Having covid in one's system at the time of death does not mean that covid caused that death...

Not even close. Please learn what "excess death" means.

Yes, people with cancer and other issues are more prone to COVID symptoms. Yes, respiratory illnesses can cause heart disease issues. Pneumonia caused by COVID isn't going to be treated by antibiotics, unless those antibiotics are only being used as anti-inflammatories and not actually as antibiotics. Antibiotics are for bacteria. Some pneumonia is caused by bacteria. That can be treated by antibiotics. COVID is a virus. Pneumonia caused by a virus can't generally be treated with antibiotics. Pneumonia caused by a bacteria infection can.

And having a bullet inside one's system at the time of death does not mean that bullet caused that death.

    Oh wait, sometimes it does.

Excess deaths show it was a significant factor. If it weren't, we'd see no excess deaths.

Why would you need antibiotics when your natural immune system is so good?

And, even if your immune system was in perfect order, why would you need antibiotics for a virus? That's not usually a thing.

    I know what it means.

Symptoms result from disease. Disease can be caused by a plethora of viruses and bacteria. This is nothing special to covid.

Pneumonia is a bacteriological infection. Bacteriological infections are treatable with antibiotics.

A bullet is not a virus.
