Where I live the city offers a blue can for recyclables. Here's the thing: they're so picky you can hardly throw anything in it. In the end, it was nothing more than a cardboard storage container. Constantly in the way (single renter - my places aren't large), the annoyance wasn't worth the once a year I'd build up enough cardboard to set it out. So I tell the city I don't want it, always to a puzzled look.

Well I tell my friends this at dinner and one flips out, seriously coming across as insulted.

If someone wants to pay rent to store recyclables in 19 cargo containers across their yard, so be it. And anyone who truly gave a crap could do it, but they won't, because it is impractical. But because the city offers a free cargo container, we're all obligated to oblige, or monsters hell bent on the earth's destruction? It's absurd.

No one on earth would pay money out of pocket for a cardboard holder. Not because they don't care, but because they don't want it taking up space, adding to the clutter. But a free one makes it a sound idea? Retarded.

The worst part about it is taking a step back and realizing we're Americans - and they would have such audacity. A nation where everyone is on a smart phone made by 8 year olds and their parents, who when finally attempting to commit suicide, get bounced by net back onto the line. Are you ****ing kidding me?

Like it or not - we are vampires. Live a lie if it helps you sleep at night. But your judgement is as gay as a Bible thumper's. You're not going to move to the woods to eat vegetables grown from your own fecal matter. You won't even put down that phone.

Just shut up. I'm over it.
