First off, the Republicans are making inroads among Hispanics. Romney received 27% of the Hispanic vote in 2012, Trump 28% in 2016 and 32% last year. In the generic congressional ballot, 39% of Hispanics say they’ll vote for the Republican congressional candidate this midterm. Although Trump received 32% of the Hispanic vote nationwide, he received 41% in Texas, 38% in New Mexico and 37% in Arizona. Compare that to just 22% of the Hispanic vote in New York for example. Blacks are also going a bit more Republican. Romney received by 4% of the black vote, Trump in 2016 8% and 12% in 2020.
