Why are you humanizing a dumb animal for? They, are property, to bought sold and traded. mere chattle livestock. Such weak sentimentalism is so disgusting.

No, attitudes like your are disgusting. Animals are no less entitled to humane and respectful treatment than you are. Actually, in your case, some might make an exception...what the f*ck is the matter with people like you?

From what I have read...that isn't the case. Dogs with aggression OR behavioral problems are killed. And according to the study---reasons weren't given concerning what behaviors lead to their death.

This is from a U.K website:

Microchipping: Many dogs in the UK
are put to sleep because their
    owners cannot be traced.
    If a dog
    is microchipped and registered on
a national database, his owners can
be traced very quickly and he can be
    returned safe and sound.

    • Identification: All dogs must be clearly
identified, wearing a collar and tag with
the name and address of his owner on
it. If a dog appears to be straying, it
may be picked up by the dog warden
and taken to local kennels. Dogs that
are not claimed or rehomed after seven
days (five days in Northern Ireland)
    may be put to sleep.

Nothing is wrong with me. You are the one with a weak simpering bleeding heart crying out for the plight of stupid animals as if they should attributed human rights.

Pets are slaves, nothing more and nothing les..

As already pointed out, it's pretty ironic that the same bleeding heart animal activists who are always telling you to cut out your pets reproductive organs are so aghast over debarking. Just think of all the wonderful information these dogs could have shared. Since they can't write, how could they ever tell us when they find the cure for cancer if they have no voice? Now if there was only a surgery to keep them from crapping on the floor...

    A truly moronic post.

    Stick to the topic.

This is pretty much how it works in Australia. All dogs must be registered at the local council by way of owner's name, address and phone number, also the breed, sex and a brief discription of the dog. All these are put on a data base. Once that's done the owner is given a tag with an ID number. Micro-chipping is also advocated, where once again all details of the dog and owner are logged. All these factors were put in place after consultation with the RSPCA. This is done so any dogs that are out and about can be returned to their rightful owners.

In Australia we just don't want dogs prowling the streets, dogs running wild are a bloody nuisance and a health hazzard. Dogs when allowed to run wild will eventually revert back to pack animals.

Any dog caught out and about will firstly be checked for a micro-chip, if no ID tag is in place. If identification is established, the dog is returned. If the dog is continually caught running loose, a RSPCA officer will make a call on the owner and find out why the dog is allowed to run loose or how the dog is able to run loose. The dog's living conditions are also accessed.

If the dog can't be indentified, it's taken to a shelter where the dog's behaviour is accessed by animal psychologists, and a vet check carried out. Any health issues are attended to. If the dog's behaviour is suitable for re-homing, every avenue is made to find the dog a new home. When a new owner is found, the living conditions of the dog will be accessed, the dog will be desexed and a health certificate issued. If the dog can't be re-homed for any reason, the dog will be euthanised after 7 to 30 days depending on the dog. Our eldest daughter's dog, a lovely female pooch of unknown breed is such a rescued dog. She's owned this dog for eight years now and it has settled into family life. BTW,, she also worked as a volunteer at one of these council run animal shelters.

Both our dogs (one male, one female) are living with my mother-in-law while we are away,, are registered, micro-chipped and desexed. We have both their ID tags and another tag with their name and my mother-in-laws phone number on their collars.

Better keep your dog quiet because if it wakes me up it's gonna end up eating a poison meatball. If your dog's dead, it's your problem. :tombstone:

Obviously you have never been loved by your mother and you've never been allowed to have a pet you can call your own.

Ever go through life as if something is missing?

Apparently....in Australia based on three shelters....12% of all dog euthanasia is due to barking. http://www.animalsandsociety.org/assets/library/100_jaws070102.pdf

That is the crux of the matter. Does making deBarking illegal help dogs or hurt them.

Regarding your information on policy, I think expecting responsible ownership is good---and I appreciate australia's efforts. But where I live---it is LAW that dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months. But a law is nothing if it can't be enforced. And it isn't enforced here until the owner must reclaim the dog from the shelter. Then a big fine is in play. The owner may or may not pick up the dog...and pay the fine.

Of course I had a pet I loved and was my own. But there was no doubt that I was the master and he never demanded equality in anything except the size of the food bowl.

There is nothing cruel and unusual about this procedure, except that it offends liberal aesthetics.

Only a liberal would apply moral value to aesthetics.

This sounds to me about the equivalent of circumcision controversy - both sides will be adamant in their opinions of it, and arguing about it back and forth will change nothing - I've seen conservatives in this thread adamantly against it, while on a similar note I've seen liberals here who have no problem with it.

On a side note, I find it a little hypocritical for anyone other than a devout vegan to be hypersensitive to alleged 'animal cruelty' such as this - it seems like animals' worth is only valued based on its aesthetics to many non-vegan animal rights 'crusaders' - if it's a cute wittle puppy, then oh my! we shouldn't subjected it to any unnecessary cruelty! - but a boring chicken or cow - who cares if we serve it up on a platter at KFC or McDonald's? I bet the average animal we eat every day goes through for more 'needless torture' in the meat processing factory than any of these dogs do.

Animals are neutered for the simple purpose of ensuring they don't produce unwanted litters which will end up in animal shelters and add to the problems of overcrowding and costly upkeep. It's called being responsible-and isn't that the conservative mantra? Personal responsibility? This is not, like the barbaric practises previously outlined, merely a cosmetic and lifestyle issue done for purely selfish or egotistical reasons.

It is obvious those against neutering have never lived in country where dogs breed at will and are allowed to roam the streets without control.

Ah yes, aethetics. Why doesn't that surprise me from a country where appearance is the only thing that matters. Dobermann doesn't look 'fierce' enough? Stitch some wire in its ears to make them stand up. Cats scratching your furniture? Amputate the first knuckle of every toe so you can show off your pristine expensive couch to Kyle and Melissa in your gracious f*cking home. Sad, self-obsessed little people.

It sounds to me if you are drawing an arbitrary distinction between one barbaric surgical procedure designed to make animals more compatable with captivity and another.

Anyway, I say this thread is now about tail cropping.

    Go.

This.. In reality.. Is about the Dog. It does not matter if humans approve of cosmetic pets, or disprove of it.. Or if it produces a happy family.. Or if you too would be happy without a voice.

This is about Dog. He barks maybe 10 times a day. He only (*)(*)(*)(*)s once or twice a year. He doesn't see his tail, and when he does, he thinks it's a rodent.

Every €£¥#%^* time a dog barks in a raspy cough, it's a crime. This crime happens daily. As they say "all dogs go to heaven". As such when he gets there its one very pissed pooch. "What? You chopped my balls? You cut my tail? You broke my voice? You pinned my ears? WTF!"

If you cannot put yourself in dog's shoes, you are maybe a monkey, but you are not a man.

If I had to choose between sex and talking, I'd choose sex.

I'd rather keep my nuts, thank you.

An endlessly barking dog is an extreme nuisance.

Removing the bark saves Fido from a .22 cal solution.

You could remove your hearing and then no sounds would bother you.

Babies (*)(*)(*)(*).. They cry.. It is very annoying. What is your solution for that?

Dog is a living creature. Removing his voice for your ears is a crime.

We care for these disgusting creatures, and we make THEM better. We don't punish them for their nature. Apparently Americans are not civilized.

There are a lot of living creatures that I kill, chop into pieces, cook their flesh over fire, and then eat. I am currently on the "Nothing that cannot scream out in pain" diet.

    Also, dogs are disgusting?

People who wilfully mutilate animals in order to have them conform with their dumb lifestyle are the ones who are disgusting. Pathetic examples of humans as well.
