    Babies are not dogs.

There are breeds of dog that don't bark. They get by just fine.

Dogs are bred for specific jobs, so they conform to a mission people have for them.

So you are against spaying and neutering?

No, and I've outlined the reason why in a previous post. Neutering prevents unwanted litters which serve only to increase the populations in rescue facilities and increase their costs. Furthermore unspayed females which do not bear litters can, and frequently do, develop life-threatening conditions such as pyometria. Cosmetic adjustments to your dog or cat do nothing but pander to your ego and lifestyle requirements. http://www.worldsvet.com/unspayed_diseases.html

That was Marm's preference. He loved to be outside, regardless of weather. (He was a well-insulated St. Bernard.)

Yes. Dog's (*)(*)(*)(*) disgusts you. Baby's (*)(*)(*)(*) disgusts you. Dog's bark disturbs you. Baby's cry disturbs you.

The US Government against its people and the Americans' policy against humanity is to PUNISH their kin for the nature, which in the case of the US Government, IT CREATED.

That is right... The US Government CREATED the diseased and disgusting and impoverished people through its policy of steal from the poor, give to the rich.

Now you wish to punish, torture the dog for your bad society, and punish, torture the people for your bad society.

Members of the US Government have blamed its common people for the housing crisis for taking loans ehich RAPED them that NOBODY could not afford, because of the societal conditions around them created by the US Government.

You create a cosmetic society where dog is not free and your law permits all manner of crime against animals in the name of the almighty dollar.

Well, your bad society is your punishment! You punish yourselves. Your rich will rot. Your middle class will defer babies, and your poor classes will sprout babies like rabbits. You will be living in a country of Mexicans by 2050!

There are 78 million dogs in the United States. US Corporations do not provide figures on how many they have debarked.

Does that include people who eat fast food regularily?

I always find the non-vegan animal rights fundamentalists to be good for a laugh - and more or less the equivalent of religious hypocrites. They'll raise a stink over non-painful, non-harmful proceedures done to a dog with entirely practical reasons, while at the same time you won't hear a peep from them about animals in slaughter houses living in inhumane conditions, and being ground up into hamburger just so people can gorge themselves on overpriced, mediocre, greasy food that there's no practical reason for anyone to eat anyway.

To me they're basically the 'animal rights' equivalent of white supremacists - it's not the animals they care about, it's only the aesthetic - in other words an animal's worth is only determined by how 'cute' it is, much like a person's worth to a white supremacist is only determined by skin color. If it's a cute little puppy, then no one should dare mistreat it - but if it's just a boring, unattractive cow or chicken, then who cares? Chickens and cows are ugly anyway so they've got no rights, only the "master species" like cute little puppies or kittens matter - not all those lesser species - so hell they can grind all those poor cows and chickens up and serve them to me on a bun for all I care.

And with dumb posts like this is it any wonder the world thinks America is a nation of retarded, trigger-happy f*ckwits?

Can you translate this into something resembling coherent English, rather than rambling American nonsense?

Oh, and we tend not to eat dogs and cats. No animal deserves inhumane treatment for self-centred reasons. Don't want animals to behave as they naturally do? Then don't have them living with you. Idiots who modify their pets to satisfy their sad little egos don't deserve to share the same oxygen. Animals were not put on this planet for the amusement of humans.

Are you a vegan? Yes or no, because if not then your opinion is null and void. The process of debarking is less painful than what a chicken or a cow in a slaughter house go through, so you're really just a "species supremacist" - you only care about dogs or cats because they're "cute", but a "lesser species" like a cow or chicken deserves no rights because they're not as cute, according to you. So dogs and cats are the equivalent of "Aryans", while other animals are just "mud people".

And as explained, the process of debarking is a practical one. For example, some people adopt abused animals who most people cannot handle, and might be forced by their apartment to either get it to stop barking, or have to give it up, in which case it would almost inevitably be put to sleep.

'De-barking' is not necessary, prevents the dog exercising his natural reactions and does nothing but pander to the whims of sad, pathetic little Americans. It is about as pathetic as arse bleaching and done for the same reasons. Animals are not lifestyle additions. You have a duty of care to the animal you home; mutilating it so that it fits your lifestyle is not in any sense 'caring'. What is it about this simple premise that you fail to grasp-or do you believe animals are there for you to do as you wish with?

And your assertion about 'rights' is equally inane. Animals bred for food have rights enshrined in the laws that ensure their humane dispatch-at least they do in the UK. A cow is stunned into unconsciousness before being killed; likewise chickens. If they are not then someone is breaking the law. As I understand it the American Animal Welfare Act does not cover livestock.

Right, so keeping them locked up in a tiny cage, often forced fed to 'fatten them up' - just to serve your whims of scarfing down a greasy burger is completely humane  - less humane than a little surgery which causes no lasting pain or harm to the animal. What a joke - it's obvious that you don't really give a rat's ass about humane treatment of animals, you're just looking for a lame excuse to bash America - I bet you wouldn't dare condemn an Asian country where dogs and cats are a delicacy, yet you'll find time to gripe about a process which isn't anymore 'inhumane' than circumcision.

Practice what you preach - go vegan.

See, there's this concept called 'free range' where chickens are allowed to roam at will, uncaged, and do what they do naturally. I am not vegetarian but I do buy ethically-reared meat, poultry and eggs.

And please, try not to be stupid (I know it's difficult, but have a go). If you believe, in the face of all I have written, that I don't care about animals but am using this issue to bash America, then that's your prerogative. If you're really so thick that you cannot grasp that I'm bashing the practise of lifestyle-modification of animals-and the morons who do it-then there's little hope for you. I'm done with this. Have a great day-and stay away from hurricanes.

You don't have any business telling us what is "necessary and proper" way to treat our pets. Pets are "lifestyle additions" and for some people, they ARE fashion statements.

I am all for animal rights, but this procedure does not sound that bad. Id prefer tighter regulation instead of a ban.

I wonder how many of those against animal devocalisation are in favor of routine infant circumcision of humans being allowed..

I think Obama should immediately propose a ban on debarking dogs, declawing cats, and neutering both.

That ought to about polish him off.

Before you come here whining about America, maybe you should focus attention on your own country first.
How about the practice of dog fighting in the UK ?

Circumcision has well-documented health benefits. Cosmetically modifying a dog does not.

Dog fighting has NOTHING to do with debarking. In fact... you want dogs to bark A LOT during dog fighting.

It is almost the opposite of dog debarking... It is dog embarking.

Dog debarking is ILLEGAL in the UK.... We are talking about a despicable practice that is performed by a large number of homes. We're not going to stop talking about 1 despicable practice because another, different despicable practice exists. That would be irrational.
